A tree has been planted to commemorate the launch of a new housing development in Letchworth.

Barratt Homes North Thames welcomed Councillor Lynda Needham, leader of North Hertfordshire District Council (NHDC), and other guests to Madden Gardens for the official opening of the new development of two, three and four bedroom properties on Blackhorse Road.

Mark Bryan, Technical Director at Barratt Homes North Thames, and Cllr Needham, planted the tree as part of the official unveiling of the new development. Madden Gardens is inspired by the Garden City philosophy, with tree lined avenues and areas planted with a variety of trees and shrubs, and it was designed with input from the town's Heritage Foundation.

Karly Williams, Sales Director at Barratt Homes North Thames, said: “We thought it would be fitting to plant a tree as part of the official launch of Madden Gardens and we would like to thank Cllr Needham for helping us to mark the occasion. The development has already proved to be extremely popular with all 26 properties in the first phase selling off-plan. Work is on-going and more homes will be available to buy soon.”

Cllr Lynda Needham, Leader of NHDC, said: “It is really good news that this attractive, new development will provide a range of affordable housing for local people as well as those looking to relocate to the area. Set in the green surroundings of Letchworth, the houses have been designed with the Garden City philosophy in mind, with trees and shrubs being planted to enhance the area, making it a perfect place for families to grow”.

Visitors to Madden Gardens will be able to get a taste of life at the development by viewing the show homes which are now open. The Barwick is a three bedroom property while the Thornbury is a four bedroom home.
Madden Gardens has a wealth of amenities on its doorstep and boasts excellent connections to the capital as London King's Cross is only 28 minutes away by train.

A number of four bedroom homes are currently available to buy and prices start from £482,950.
