A flagship new homes development which will regenerate the site of a former college in Barnet has won an award for its design.
Trinity Square, from Barratt Homes North Thames, was named a Project Winner in the prestigious Housing Design Awards 2015.The development of 395 homes will transform the existing brownfield site on Grahame Park Way with a variety of houses and apartments, ranging from starter homes to family sized properties.
The award recognises Barratt Homes' partnership work with Barnet and Southgate College, local people and the local council. As well as housing, new college buildings and facilities will be created as part of the regeneration work. Other provisions include a library, a centre for independent living and land for a new primary school. Barratt Homes North Thames will also give over £3.5million of investment to Barnet Council to go towards local infrastructure.
Ian Sadler, Managing Director at Barratt Homes North Thames, said: “We are delighted to have been named a Project Winner in the Housing Design Awards and it is wonderful to be acknowledged for our partnership work with the local community. We have put a tremendous amount of thought and care into the planning of Trinity Square to ensure the regeneration of this brownfield site will provide quality new homes which fit in with the local area. We are looking forward to the next few months as work gets underway on site and it is fantastic to know Trinity Square is already an award-winning development.”
Trinity Square was judged on a number of factors and one of the key components was the parking provision, much of which has been designed to be discretely hidden, while the design of the tree lined streets, squares and open spaces was also praised.
The Housing Design Award is the latest accolade for Trinity Square. The development was previously awarded Built for Life accreditation which recognises schemes for the way they are planned and designed.
