Wxciting new appointments and promotions are being celebrated in the marketing team of Nottingham based leading home-builder Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands.
Former marketing undergraduate Josh Malone, 22, has started his new role as Marketing Executive, just two years after working at the Northampton office of Barratt Homes in 2014 for a year on an undergraduate placement as a Marketing Assistant. Following a successful year gaining on-the-job experience and after finishing the final year of his Business Management degree at De Montfort University, he applied for the new position and was delighted when he was offered the role. He's now been in the role for over a month and works full time for Barratt Homes North Midlands Division at their head office in Nottingham.
Josh, who is originally from Manchester but now lives in Nottingham, said: “I've always had a keen interested in the housing industry as my mum works in conveyancing so when the Barratt undergraduate programme came up it seemed like the natural choice. When I heard I'd got the job as a Marketing Executive I was really excited and I'm really enjoying it so far.
“The placement I did was great but this is really good because I'm learning in a different way now and I've taken on a lot more responsibility and it's really interesting learning about all the new sites.”
The team are also delighted to welcome Zoe Nightingale, from Nottingham, who has taken on the role of Marketing Assistant. She previously worked as an in-store marketer for Vision Express and is delighted to join the team.
Zoe, 26, said: “This role is great and I'm learning loads of new things already, it's good because I'm experiencing new areas of marketing that I haven't previously. Everyone is really friendly and eventually I hope to progress my career with marketing, particularly digital and direct marketing.”
Her duties as a Marketing Assistant include updating the Barratt and David Wilson Homes website, creating their promotional email and SMS marketing.
Whilst welcoming the newly appointed staff into their positions, Barratt and David Wilson Homes is also sad to say goodbye to their current undergraduate Ryan Kenton. Ryan joined the team August 2015 for a one year placement as a Marketing Assistant. The 22-year-old will be going back to De Montfort University for his final year, where he is studying Advertising and Marketing Communications.
Ryan, from Derby, said: “I applied for the placement as I wanted somewhere I would be given responsibility and the learning would be very hands on. It was really good to be given exposure to all of the different types of marketing they do and I didn't realise just how much I would learn from doing the placement. It's given me so much more confidence and the staff have all been so welcoming and helpful.
“It's been such a great experience and it's good to know that I'll be tackling my final year of study head on with a years' experience behind me.”
Mark Cotes, Operations Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands, said: “We were delighted to be able to offer Josh the role of Marketing Executive and believe he is the ideal candidate for the role. We are also happy to welcome Zoe to the team and we wish her every success within the company.
“I want to thank our undergraduate Ryan for all of his hard work over the past year and wish him luck in his final year of University.
“Barratt and David Wilson Homes are deeply committed to developing raw talent and as Josh has proven; our placements can prove very valuable for future employees and the company itself.”
