An employee at Watford-based homebuilder Barratt Homes North Thames has been climbing the career ladder.

Ilir Gjini has recently been appointed Construction Director after over 18 years of service with the company. He joined the company in 1998 and worked as a labourer on site, he then worked his way up throughout the years to Trainee Assistant Site Manager eventually becoming a Site Manager and then moving on to Construction Manager. His latest step up has been to Construction Director.

As Construction Director, Ilir oversees the production of the developments, keeps health and safety standards high and is also involved in managing customer service.

Ilir said, “This new role is a great challenge but I'm enjoying it. It's great to be managing all areas of the Construction department, particularly the people.

“I'm aiming to improve all the aspects of Construction within Barratt North Thames, from getting the build on schedule to improving safety scores and getting the sites where they need to be.”

The experience of being site manager gives Ilir a unique perspective of the job. Ilir continued, “Having worked on Barratt Homes developments for a long period of time, it gives me the knowledge needed to help site managers understand the best way to solve their problems, although admittedly I do sometimes miss the physical construction side of things.”
