It's a valiant double victory for Verto Homes as the sustainable developer snags two top awards at the prestigious UK Property Awards 2017 last Friday night in Central London: Best Residential Development Cornwall for Island Reach and Best Developer Website for the Verto Homes website.
It's a significant win, as Island Reach was the first Zero Carbon Smart Home development in the UK, and was the first project of its kind for Verto Homes.
'It's our flagship development, and a lot of blood, sweat and tears went into it to make it according to our zero-carbon vision. But having stuck to our guns and come out the other side to be awarded the Best Residential Development in Cornwall is really rewarding', says Verto Homes Co-founder Richard Pearce.
Co-founder Tom Carr, who led the build of the Verto Homes website alongside digital agency Ruin, cites its clean, aesthetically pleasing design and depth of content as the factors that helped them win. 'We are different, and we have to embrace this – so our website has to look and feel like us and also answer all of the questions our customers might have: like how the technology works and how this will affect them personally. So I like to think that an award for our website is also an award for our ethos and logic.'
Verto Homes has also made news for their efforts to combat the housing crisis via the sustainable redevelopment of derelict buildings in Cornwall, and for smashing funding records on crowd-funding platform Funding Circle.
Both Richard and Tom express a sense of pride in the whole team for making these projects happen, and say the awards provide further (clean, green and figurative) fuel for Verto's goals.

Verto Homes:
Verto Homes was founded in 2010 by Tom Carr and Richard Pearce, with a mission to create homes that marry the height of style with the latest sustainable technology. The result is their Zero Carbon Smart Home, which generates its own clean energy, employs sustainable construction techniques, and allows for every element of home life to be controlled via the custom smartphone app Vesta. Island Reach was the first Zero Carbon Smart Home development in the UK, with a further four developments of this kind completed or under construction, and another 1,600 units in the pipeline and due for rollout over the next five years.
