London based residential and commercial agency Currell opened a new Hackney Wick Fish Island (HWFI) office on Monday 6th November as part of its expansion eastwards. The office is centrally located in Hackney Wick at 61-63 Wallis Road; less than a minute's walk from Hackney Wick Overground station and within the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) area.
In addition to selling and letting residential and commercial properties within Hackney Wick and Fish Island, the Currell HWFI office will also serve surrounding areas such as the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park (QEOP), Stratford and Leyton.

The HWFI area, which lies directly to the west of the Olympic Park, is currently undergoing a metamorphosis into a vibrant mixed-use neighbourhood; ex-industrial buildings and sites are being transformed into new build homes and workspaces, many of which are affordable tenure. It is predicted that by 2025, there will be over 5,000 new homes along with new commercial spaces (including affordable art studios). Infrastructure improvements are currently underway at Hackney Wick Station, which is one stop from the transport hub at Stratford (including Crossrail).

Currell is the first established agent to open an office in the area, in which it has been closely involved for over a decade. In 2008 Currell sold 24 private sale apartments and the commercial space in the Biggs Square development for Family Mosaic. Also known as Vantage Square, this was one of the first new developments in the area. Since then Currell has helped clients to acquire sites in the area, and has also provided advice and a commissioned report on workspace for the LLDC. Currell Group CEO Anne Currell said:

"Our Hackney Wick Fish Island office is a natural extension of our already very strong position in East London. In the nineties Hackney Wick and Fish Island had the largest number of artists' studios in Europe, sitting alongside industrial buildings which replaced the Victorian housing lost in the Blitz. I've lived in Hackney for over 30 years and have a passion for art, so we want to be part of the story of Hackney Wick and Fish Island; to see new homes created whilst retaining the artistic fabric of the area."

The Currell office will house its impressive bespoke 3D interactive model of the area, which shows proposed changes to the built environment and infrastructure. This enables buyers/renters to envisage the ongoing development of this relatively undiscovered and unique place, where industrial heritage buildings sit alongside emerging new developments, and where the existing community is growing as new residents and businesses move in.

HWFI benefits from easy access to expansive green spaces, as it lies adjacent to the Olympic Park and is criss-crossed by waterways. It is a paradise for cyclists and pedestrians, with a network of routes connecting homes and workspaces with transport links and the many leisure and shopping facilities which range from eclectic independents on HWFI to world class facilities in the Olympic Park.
