  • Leagrave is named the overall #1 London commuter area to buy a house
  • Find the top London commuter towns to move to in 2018 and personalise your search results by house price, rail fares, commute time, good schools and more

To help many Londoners realise their dream of moving out of pricey London, but without loosing their city salaries, Yopa has launched the London Commuter Guide.

Despite the 3.4% rise in rail fares, which came into effect on 2nd January 2018, Londoners can now use the Yopa London Commuter Guide to identify the most affordable and accessible places to buy a house outside of the M25.

Yopa's technology gurus have meticulously mapped out many of London's commuter towns, collecting data on average house prices, commute time and new rail fares, but also factors to produce personalised search results regarding the factors that are most important to the user; such as proximity to top schools, low crime rate, the London terminal nearest your office or even an abundance of local pubs.

According to CEO and co-founder, Dan Attia, “We created Yopa to make selling your home simpler and easier. I'd had some really frustrating experiences when selling my own home and I wanted to create a less painful way.

“Similarly, we saw that a lot of Londoners are currently looking to move further out, but many are overwhelmed by the daunting choice of where to move to, and don't feel confident that they are making the right choice. So we built this simple and easy tool.

“The London Commuter Guide is more comprehensive than anything else like it. It makes choosing your next move easy, and empowers our customers to make a more informed decision.

“Let's say that your budget in £300,000 and a big thing for you is kids' bedtime. Specifically, getting back home in time for it. No problem - just filter in your budget and a maximum commute time of 40 minutes.”

High street estate agents Savills recently analysed figures from the Office for National Statistics and the Land Registry to find that net outward migration from London, for the year to June 2016, had reached 93,300 people – more than 80% higher than five years earlier.

The Yopa London Commuter Guide identifies the overall Top 10 commuter towns based on key factors - average house price, rail fares and commute time.

London's Top 10 Commuter Towns:

  1. Leagrave, Bedfordshire
  2. Reading, Berkshire
  3. Luton, Bedfordshire
  4. St Albans, Hertfordshire
  5. Slough, Berkshire
  6. Woking, Surrey
  7. Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire
  8. Stevenage, Hertfordshire
  9. Rochester, Kent
  10. Windsor, Berkshire

While Leagrave comes in as the overall #1 London commuter town, it also tops the list in many niche search results, such as best for first time home buyers with the average house price under £300,000, best for good primary schools, best for having an abundance of local pubs and best for being close to an airport.

Julian Nichita, Yopa's local estate agent for Leagrave says, “Nearby Luton has developed a lot in recent years and now the village of Leagrave has become hugely sought after, mainly because it has its own railway station that gets you into London in 38 minutes, another junction has been added to the the M1 (11a) and Leagrave has access to great schools.

“Although no longer officially a 'village' the spirit remains, people there are nice, local shops are still thriving even if we now have some big name stores like Asda and Lidl. Leagrave has a public library, churches, it's clean and family orientated and it's a very beautiful town, especially in the spring and summer when the green comes back”

About Yopa:

Yopa was co-founded by Daniel Attia in 2015 to give home sellers an affordable alternative to traditional estate agency, without compromising on service. By eliminating the expensive overheads of a high street estate agency and charging home sellers a low fixed fee, Yopa's dedicated local agents are able to get sellers the best price for their home. On average, those who sold with Yopa found a buyer for their home in under 24 days and achieved over 98 percent of their asking price.
