According to recent analysis by Nationwide, the average first time buyer deposit in London is now in excess of £80,000, taking almost 10 years to save[1]. Offering a helping hand to buyers struggling to get on the path to home ownership, Genesis' new development, Casa Court in Colindale, NW9, has just a few remaining apartments available to buy through shared ownership. Thanks to the scheme, purchasers can secure a home with a deposit of just £11,175, over £68,000 less than the average for the capital.

Helping Londoners struggling to find an affordable home, Casa Court at Colindale in the London Borough of Barnet, offers a selection of stylish one and two bedroom apartments, and follows the success of recent phases, Panavia Court and Jaguar Court. Shared ownership allows purchasers to buy between 25% and 75% of the property value, paying subsidised rent on the remainder. Residents can then increase their share at any time, all the way up to 100% and outright ownership.

Sarah Butler, Commercial Director at Genesis, comments: “With such large deposits now required, it is a difficult time for first time buyers struggling to buy a home in London. We are really pleased to be able to offer the shared ownership scheme at Casa Court, the homes here are perfectly suited for those looking for their first property and provide the ideal opportunity to live in an exciting new area within striking distance of central London. With only a few apartments left, purchasers need to act quickly to take advantage of the potential savings on their first brand new home.”

The apartments at Casa Court are the newest phases within the well-established regeneration zone of Colindale. Residents can take advantage of a vibrant new community in this North West London district, surrounded by an array of entertainment options and a range of new local amenities such as a community centre, public library and Sainsbury's Local, in addition to new urban and green spaces.

The apartments at Casa Court enjoy a high-quality and contemporary finish with spacious and light-filled open plan living / kitchen / dining areas. Kitchens have elegant granite worktops, bright modern units with under cupboard lighting, and a range of integrated Zanussi appliances, including a fridge/freezer and dishwasher, combining style with practicality. French doors opening out from the living area lead to either a private terrace or balcony. Bedrooms are generously proportioned, and bathrooms come fully tiled, finished with contemporary white sanitary ware and chrome fixtures and fittings. On-site parking facilities are also available for residents.

For more shopping options, nearby Brent Cross Shopping Centre, with over 120 shops including John Lewis and Waitrose, is less than 15 minutes away by tube and provides the perfect opportunity to enjoy some retail therapy. For those with a keen interest in outdoor ventures, Heybourne Park is nearby along with Colindale Park and Montrose Fields, both located around one mile away from Casa Court.

Commuters can enjoy fast and frequent transport services into the heart of the capital from nearby Colindale underground station, which is served by the 24-hour Northern line. Residents can take direct trains to the West End in a little over 20 minutes and reach Bank or Leicester Square in just 30 minutes. Mill Hill Broadway is the nearest Overground station, and is located 1.6 miles away from the development.

Prices for a one-bedroom apartment at Casa Court start from £111,750 for a 25% share of the full market price of £447,000. For further information or to book a viewing, please visit www.genesishahomes.org.uk or call 0844 880 1145.
