Artificial grass supplier, LazyLawn®, has installed its field-leading turf on a rooftop garden at a new apartment building in Camden.

Barratt London's Camden Courtyards development has been shortlisted for several awards* for its double courtyard scheme within a seven-storey, S-shaped building. Bounded on two sides by busy roads, the courtyard setting was designed to enhance the outlook for residents, with two landscaped rooftop terraces adding space for play, and a calming outdoor 'room' for relaxation.

The premier grass surface fitted by specialist installers LazyLawn® involved 350 square metres of Lazy Adore 40mm premium artificial grass selected by the client. Latest installation techniques were used to minimise weight at the top of the building and tackle the challenges of transporting heavy materials to the rooftop area, which had to be done by crane.

A series of cut out circles and raised flower beds delivers contemporary greenery with a tranquil planting scheme, while a separate space is set with obstacles and spinning discs for children to play.

Shaun Fabian, project manager from LazyLawn® explained: “The results are outstanding, despite all the complications of getting the grass meticulously scaled and cut to size, as well as transporting all the necessary installation materials up to the roof.

“The residents at Camden Courtyards have been really impressed with the scheme, both for its looks and performance. They have commented how soft the LazyLawn® is, which is great for children using the play area. It will also look great all year round for them to really enjoy the outlook.”

With several similar schemes currently underway, Shaun confirmed rising demand for easy-maintenance, rooftop gardens, making the most of empty space that could provide green areas for relaxation, especially in the capital.

“Space is really at a premium in London and people are fast recognising that LazyLawn® offers the ideal answer, providing a vibrant, all-weather solution with a 'wow' factor that works exceptionally well for rooftop areas.”

Other recent LazyLawn® schemes include a residents' courtyard at a new Linden Homes apartment development in Bermondsey. LazyLawn® has also completed the impressive transformation of a communal courtyard at Mizen Group's St Luke's Square apartment development, Canning Town, where residents overlook the verdant, revitalised courtyard. Both projects used a combined total of 1,600 square metres of LazyLawn®'s award-winning Wonder Yarn artificial grass, complemented with a new play area.

Andy Driver, Marketing Director at LazyLawn® said: “Demand for LazyLawn® in landscaped courtyards is rising because it looks so impressive and adds another dimension to residential areas, brightening space and being a highly practical, all-weather alternative to natural grass.”

The UK's leading artificial grass supplier, LazyLawn® has been at the forefront of the supply and installation of synthetic turf for over 30 years, pioneering the development of artificial grass and consistently striving for the most natural-looking product available.

LazyLawn® has built a strong reputation for reliability and trustworthiness through commitment to customer service excellence.
