Voted one of Spain's Top 25 B&Bs and Inns in Spain, and listed in Sawday's, La Finca del Castillo Arabe is for sale as a going concern, complete with Spanish Limited Company, license, excellent reputation and goodwill, listings on travel websites and its own domain name and website.

The sale of this unique property provides an opportunity to walk into a hospitality business and start trading immediately.

La Finca del Castillo Arabe was built by the current owners to their own design as a boutique suite hotel in a stunning location in the Lecrin Valley - the Valley of Happiness - on the edge of the Sierra Nevada mountain range between Granada and the Costa Tropical in Andalucia, Southern Spain.

The property has been trading successfully as a rural ecological country residence, catering business and cookery school since 2011.

There are 4 guest suites, each with a double bedroom, sitting room/dining area, bathroom and private balcony overlooking the valley; each suite can sleep between 2-4 people. The property can accommodate 12+ people.

There is a private suite for the owners, with double bedroom, ensuite wet room, sitting room, and private balcony and a separate office.

The fully equipped kitchen is licensed to cater for events for 150 - 200 people, and is currently also used as a Cookery School.

Outside, there is an organic garden producing much of the produce used in the kitchen, a large swimming pool and 34,000 m2 of land.

The property takes its name from the nearby Castillo Árabe de Lojuela, the ruins of the only moorish castle from the Caliphate Era in the Lecrin Valley. Moors ruled the huge southern half of Spain, then known as Al Andaluz, from around 711 until 1492, when the Catholic rulers of Northern Spain conquered the last remaining moorish stronghold, Granada.

“Chris and Scarlett run their small eco-retreat in the Alpujarras with real love; each of the four rooms is furnished with textiles and mementoes from their travels, and can be taken on a self-catering, B&B or full-board basis. Food is a big part of the deal here; La Huerta is their organic-certified farm, which produces all the fruit and veg used at Castillo Arabe, and their kitchen produces everything from sausages to bread, with cookery classes available by arrangement.”

About Ian Rutter International Property Consultant

Ian Rutter helps individual private property vendors to explore new marketing avenues beyond traditional real estate agency. Operating from Andalucia, southern Spain, Ian identified that there is a huge gap in the market when it comes to promoting the many exceptional, unique and historic properties that are for sale across Spain. Many of the major real estate companies concentrate only on the coastal regions, ignoring the incredible inland villages, towns and landscapes that make up this stunningly beautiful country.

Ian spent many years marketing property in both the UK and around the world before joining two marketing agencies, first as Creative Director and then as Managing Director. Now a resident in Andalucia, Ian also writes a blog about his and his partner's experiences  living and working in Spain, and he presents two radio programmes for radio channels in both Andalucia and London.

About the Lecrin Valley, Granada Province

The Lecrin Valley, or Valle de Lecrín, is a lush and fertile valley that sits just below the western edge of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Filled with orange, almond and olive trees, this is a little-known corner of Southern Spain, yet is one of the most picturesque. This is an agricultural heartland, made up of smallholdings owned by villagers who have lived here for generations. As with many corners of Andalucia, employment opportunities for the young are almost non-existent, so families are fragmenting as children go to the cities to find work.

Over the past 20 years, an increasing number of non-Spanish property buyers have moved to the area to live, run small businesses or invest in holiday property, but this has not had an adverse effect on the landscape, integrity of local architecture or cultural richness; indeed, the advent of tourism has created new business opportunities. Planning and development is very strictly controlled and, these days, any grandiose redevelopment or construction is well nigh impossible.

About Granada Province

Many people may have heard of the Alhambra Palace, but far fewer people know about
Granada, the city that is home to the Alhambra, or the wider Granada Province. Covering some 4,838 square miles, Granada Province is made up of a spectacularly varied landscape from the stretch of Mediterranean coast known as the Costa Tropical to a major
part of the Sierra Nevada mountain range dominated by the highest peak on the Iberian
Peninsula. Few people realise that the Sierra Nevada is home to Europe's southern-most ski resort, and that it is perfectly possible to ski in the morning and then go to the beach in the afternoon! Elsewhere, there are staggering mountain ranges, undulating hills covered in olive groves, verdant valleys where oranges grown in abundance, and vineyards producing delicious wines to compete with the world's finest.

Historically, Granada City played a pivotal role in the development of modern Spain, as this was the last stronghold of the ruling Moorish dynasties who controlled Al Andaluz from around 711 until 1492 when the Catholic King and Queen, Isabel and Fernando, took control and evicted both the Jews and the Moors. The historic city saw a spread of development shortly after the end of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) and is now becoming a hub for Spain's technology, healthcare and tourism sectors.

Granada is the city of poet and playwright Federico Garcia Lorca, with deeply embedded traditions; a city of tapas, flamenco, architecture, fine wines and welcoming people.

Getting to Granada

Granada has its own airport named after Federico Garcia Lorca, and both EasyJet and British Airways fly here direct from the UK on certain days of the week.
