Taking their first step on the property ladder, a couple have used the Help to Buy scheme to buy their first home together at Barratt Homes' Hampton Water development in Peterborough.
Rebecca Sprigg (25) and Aaron Collins (24), an Administrator and a Local Government Officer, were both living with their parents before capitalising on the government-backed scheme to move to the London Road development.
Aaron said: “As we used Help to Buy, buying a new build seemed the obvious choice and we had heard good things about Barratt Homes as a developer.
“We took the time to look into all developments within the area, but Hampton Water stood out. Barratt Homes is a five star builder with excellent build quality reviews and the site was perfect for us.
“The whole experience was swift, professional and stress-free and Barratt Homes always offered advice and guidance as we were first time buyers. We've been offered excellent aftercare since moving in as well.”
Rebecca and Aaron, from Coventry and Peterborough, saved up for a few years to purchase their first home together and opted for the two bedroom Amber style property.
Aaron continued: “This is a perfect starter home for first time buyers and offers good amounts of space for the property value.
“The site is open, spacious and has large areas of green space which attracted us more than other nearby developments. Hampton Water has great access to transportation routes for Aaron who works in various sites around Cambridgeshire, as the A1 is close and convenient.
“The community is currently small as we are some of the first residents to move in, but the site design and surrounding features will create a diverse and close community with the variety of activities and spaces available.”
A convenient and cost-effective lifestyle now awaits Rebecca and Aaron at Hampton Water as they are able to enjoy an elegant new home in a growing neighbourhood.
Aaron added: “The local area is full of amenities with a huge range of shops, restaurants and is 10 minutes from the train station and city centre.
“Our favourite part about coming home is having our own space to relax in and entertaining family and friends.
“The build quality allows for a lot of heat retention within the property and will really benefit us during the winter months.”
Adam Knight, Managing Director at Barratt Homes Cambridgeshire, said: “We're pleased to welcome Rebecca and Aaron into our new community at Hampton Water and we hope they enjoy many happy memories here.
“It's great to hear they were able to take advantage of the Help to Buy scheme as it is an excellent option for first time buyers or anyone looking to upsize.”
The Help to Buy scheme launched in 2013 and allows buyers to purchase a property with just a 5% deposit and a 75% mortgage. The remaining 20% is funded by an equity loan, interest-free for the first five years and repayable on the sale of the home.
Hampton Water currently has a broad selection of two, three and four bedroom properties available with prices starting from £173,995.
