Mansfield based housebuilder Rippon Homes has recently appointed a new bricklaying apprentice to work on its sites around the East Midlands.
17 year old Thomas Place began his apprenticeship in September, working at Rippon Homes' Cavendish Gardens development in Tibshelf and Manor Croft in Skegby four days a week, whilst attending West Notts College in Mansfield one day a week.
After realising he learns and works best through hands on activities, Thomas took his childhood interest of building and decided to look into a construction apprenticeship.
Thomas, who lives in Mansfield and is studying for a Bricklaying Construction Diploma Level 1 said: “I am excited to continue with my apprentice with Rippon Homes.
“The industry is so varied and there is plenty of room to progress. No day is the same in this job and I am constantly learning.
“I would 100% recommend an apprenticeship with Rippon Homes, especially for those who are more hands on in their approach to learning.
With family also in the building trade, Thomas aspires to continue to learn and become a site manager for Rippon Homes in the future.
Ian Dyke, Managing Director at Rippon Homes said: “We are delighted to welcome Thomas and look forward to watching his skills grow throughout his apprenticeship.
“Thomas has settled into the team nicely and we are already seeing his abilities shine through.
“We have been taking on apprentices for 27 years now, allowing raw talent to develop their skills through on the job training. It is great to see many of our apprentices blossom and go on to have long lasting careers with us.”
