Green Spaces in Sydenham

London is the greenest of all world cities, and a considerable number of the London boroughs are blessed with green spaces in abundance. Sydenham in South London is one of the lucky green boroughs with seven conservation areas, parks and a thriving community determined to preserve their green spaces.

Growing up in a green leafy environment and being closer to nature is a boon to mental health and is as effective for those who grow up in the green areas of the city to those who live deep in the countryside. The study from Aarhus University in Denmark concluded that those children growing up in greener surroundings have 55% less risk of developing a mental disorder.

Lawrie Park Place, a Kitewood development in Upper Sydenham, has been built on an old brownfield site, surrounded by trees and the Victorian homes with gardens full of mature bushes, trees and shrubs. Kitewood have enhanced the development by a further tree planting programme and all 27 houses benefit from a garden. The development is close to several significant green areas including Sydenham Woods which is one of the highest points in London, Crystal Palace Park and Sydenham Wells Park, regarded as the largest parks in the area offering acres of leisure opportunities.

The final phase is nearing completion and all houses will be available for occupation during the Spring , with prices starting at £999,995 for the four-bedroom, three storey Albert home with 1,776 sq. ft of living space.  The last remaining Darwin design, a very generously proportioned house spread over two floors with 2,368 sq. ft of space is available for immediate occupation.

These family houses which are located within a private gated setting have been traditionally built in warm stock brick and all homes have two car parking spaces. Each home boasts of bi-fold doors leading from the family room to the garden, high specification Rational kitchens, superb fixtures and fittings including wardrobes to all bedrooms. These homes  make a perfect place to bring up a family, especially with the number of good schools in the vicinity. Despite the rural location, Lawrie Park Place is a pleasant nine minutes' walk to the Overground and South Eastern lines with a train journey to London Bridge taking 22 minutes whilst Gatwick is 33 minutes from the station.
