Barratt Homes Site Manager, Sean Regan, is raising the standard in the construction industry after completing a degree in construction management while receiving a nomination for an award in his field.

Sean (28) has been working as a Site Manager at Barratt Homes' Nomvula Park development in Knowsley while completing his degree in Construction Management and has recently received a nomination for Local Authority Building Control's (LABC) Construction Professional of the Year Award.

Sean was a plumber before embarking on his Construction Management degree to gain further construction knowledge and broaden his horizons.

During his degree, Sean was able to receive hands-on experience as a Trainee Site Manager in 2013 for Barratt Homes' Imagine Park development in Liverpool. In 2015, Sean progressed to Site Manager of the same site.

After the completion of Imagine Park in 2018, Sean started as the Site Manager of Barratt Homes' new Nomvula Park development in Knowsley.

The Construction Management degree is sponsored by Barratt Homes and is run in a block release system which alternates working on site with studying at university. During his degree, Sean attended Sheffield Hallam University for four block weeks spread out across the year.

The degree itself covers a range of construction subjects, including planning and commercial aspects to help prepare students for a career as a Site Manager.

Sean said, “The degree has been informative and methodical covering different sectors of the industry we work in and has provided academic knowledge which has further aided my development and career enhancement.”

On top of completely his degree, Sean has also been nominated for the LABC Construction Professional of the Year Award thanks to his outstanding work at Nomvula Park in Knowsley.

Sean continued, “The past five years have been a fantastic opportunity and the results of my degree show in my progression so far.

“It's a privilege to have been nominated for LABC Construction Professional of the Year Award and it feels amazing to have been considered for one.

“I am grateful for the support and encouragement from Barratt Homes in the workplace and academically and I look forward to my future within the company.”

Barratt Homes is continuously looking to help those interested in a career in construction a way into the industry, including an apprenticeship scheme offered to young people.
