Site Managers working for Barratt Homes Manchester have won a top national award for the quality of the homes they are building in Cheshire from the National House-Building Council (NHBC).

Jim Thomson (60), Craig Hancock (48) and Steven Jordan (34), have been recognised by the NHBC at its annual Pride in the Job Quality Awards.

Jim, who has worked for the leading developer for over 30 years, is celebrating another Pride in the Job win from the NHBC for his work at the J One Seven development in Sandbach.

He said, “It's always unbelievable winning a Pride in the Job award and it truly represents the hard work my team has strived to achieve at the J One Seven development. We will continue to uphold the level of high quality homes at the development and look forward to any progress we make in the future.”

Craig, who started as an apprentice for the company in 1987, has received a Pride in the Job award for his work at the College Gardens development in Ellesmere Port.

He said, “It's amazing to receive recognition by the construction industry for the work we achieve on site. The award will be shared with my team who have helped to make the progress at the development even more possible.”

Steven, who has worked has worked for Barratt Homes for the past 12 years, has received a Pride in the Job award for his work at the Scholar's Green development in Worsley, but has moved his expertise to the King's Quarter development in Warrington.

He said, “We're always grateful to be recognised by the construction industry and this award is a testament to the progression we've made at Scholar's Green and continue to make at King's Quarter. The development has been an exciting job to be a part of for myself and my team and we look forward to any further achievements and successes we make in the future.”

Known as the “Oscars of the housebuilding industry”, the Pride in the Job Quality awards recognise the best run building sites in the country and are the highest accolade a site manager can achieve.

This year in total 84 Site Managers at parent company Barratt Developments won a Pride in the Job Quality award which is more than every other housebuilder. This is now the 15th year in a row that Barratt has won more of these prestigious awards than any other housebuilder.

In addition to spot checks from the NHBC, Site Managers are judged on their consistency, attention to detail, leadership, technical expertise and health and safety, with just 450 individual winners being chosen from over 16,000 entrants.

Neil Goodwin, Managing Director at Barratt Manchester, said, “These awards recognise only the very best new homes and well-run sites. They are something that customers can look out for as a quality mark knowing their home has been built to the highest standard possible. To win more of these awards than any other housebuilder for 15 years in a row is a real point of difference which shows how committed we are to building high quality homes for our customers.”

This year also marks the tenth year Barratt Homes has been awarded five stars by the Home Builders Federation (HBF) for customer satisfaction. For Barratt Homes to be awarded five stars means that more than 90% of its customers would be happy to recommend their home to a friend.
