Warrington-based David Wilson Homes North West has signalled that it intends to maintain its positive rate of growth by hiring new young talents to fill two positions in its land department.
As part of its expansion plans, the business is concentrating its efforts on both on-and-off market opportunities throughout the North West.
In achieving this strategic objective, it has increased the size of its land department and appointed Sebastian Burrow (28) and Alex Dilley (24) to fill the roles of Strategic Land Manager and Land Buyer respectively.
When discussing what motivated him to join the company, Sebastian explained that the company's reputation and the “fresh” nature of the role were the biggest reasons behind taking up the never-before-filled role.
“David Wilson Homes is part of the biggest five-star housebuilder group in the UK and it has a great reputation,” he said. “The Strategic Land Manager is also a completely new role within the land division, so it was a great opportunity to start a new project from afresh and really own it.”
He added that employees at all levels are valued and given everything they need to succeed. In turn, this leads to increased responsibility and pride in the job amongst staff.
“We get all the assistances we ever need to succeed and are trusted to make key decisions which makes the process a lot simpler,” he continued. “In land, we're a small team in a well-respected nationwide business and we all get on really well which is important.
“We also give a lot back to charity, which is nice and all the departments get on really well together, so there's a “feel good factor” within the office.
“In terms of my responsibilities, I am largely responsible for responding on behalf of the company and conveying the company values of being fair and honest in our business practices.
“Representing the company at the early stage of the process is something I'm proud to do. As working on behalf of a brand with the reputation that it has makes interaction with potential clients a lot easier in such a competitive marketplace.”
“I look forward to continuing to work hard within the team and securing new business for the North West strategic land portfolio,” he concluded.
Alex is responsible for seeking new land opportunities, as well as the delivery of affordable housing on some of the company's newer housing developments in the North West including Stannylands and Barrow.
“No two developments are the same, and I am very much enjoying the diversity of what we can look at and the sites we can explore,” he said. “An average day involves lots of different things such as talking to landowners and agents, Registered Providers, liaising with our solicitors on housing association deals, as well as site searching.”
Alex went on to underline that the company's decades of experience in the housing market are what makes them an ideal employer.
“The company structure and the amount of experience it has is what make them a great employer,” he explained. “The amount of media coverage it gets across the country, as well as its contacts, offices, and the different types of deals it handles is also very useful.”
