Show Home to Get Hearts Racing in Nottinghamshire This Valentine's Season

Linden Homes

WITH romance now in the air, February is the ideal month to fall in love with the idea of moving to a brand-new home – and where better to find a perfect property match than in Retford.

There's arguably no better inspiration when looking for a new place to live than visiting a show home.

The jewel in the crown of the development, the show home is the centrepiece and focal point for visitors aspiring to move to a dream home in a particular location.

With its attention to detail, carefully selected furniture, co-ordinating soft furnishings and accessories, and incredible overall interior design – it is little wonder that the show home provokes such a positive reaction with visitors or potential buyers.

And taking its interior design inspiration from 'the family' the fabulous four-bedroom show home at Linden Homes Midlands' Treswell Gardens development in Retford is definitely worth making a date with.

Jo Hughes from Edward Thomas Interiors, creators of the design, said: “Treswell Gardens was an exciting project to work on as the brief was to create a show home with impact - a family home with style, character and elements of fun.

“The children's' rooms in particular were areas we wanted to be memorable with distinct styles in each. I really love designing a child's room as it's an area where the design team can let its imagination run wild and have fun with the wall art, dressing and accessories as well as naming the children who live in the room to really create that personal touch.

“Choosing a vibrant colour palette for this show home was important as the brief was to create a dramatic, rich, opulent show home for a family who know their own style, like the finer things in life and are not afraid to show it off. We wanted to ensure that families viewing the property could see how they would be able to live within the space and areas where they could have fun.”

The Mylne fits the bill perfectly when it comes to meeting the needs of modern family life; with its large kitchen/ dining area – complete with French doors which open out to the garden – spacious lounge and downstairs cloakroom.

Four good sized bedrooms, with space for all the family, make up the first floor; including ensuite to the master bedroom, and family bathroom.

However, the careful attention to detail in the design and bright colour scheme is what really makes visitors fall in love with this home, thanks to Birmingham-based Edward Thomas Interiors.

Jo added: “Edward Thomas Interiors have designed several show homes for Lindon Homes and have found each project to be exciting in its own individual way. Initially from a discussion with our clients, a brief is formulated which considers the demographics of the show home, areas of the house which are important to highlight as well as the which interior style best suits the target market. We also research any other developments within the local area to ensure that each of our show homes stand out from the crowd and our team are very experienced at designing the right style for the right home.”

Linden Homes Midlands (part of Vistry Group) sales and marketing director Vanessa MacNee said: “We are absolutely thrilled with this show home; its bright colours, attention to detail and overall “wow” factor – and the feedback from visitors has been great.

“However, as with any show home we want potential buyers not only to get caught up in the splendour of the show home, but to also make the most of the visit and gaining that all-important information they need to make a decision.”

And some expert tips from Jo when it comes to getting it just right …

  • Creating a show home with a fluid colour and style throughout is always important for getting the design just right as well as ensuring that each room should have its own identity. As designers, we always like to make impact in each room and treat each area of the home with equal attention to detail. That being said you never get a second chance to make a good first impression so from the moment you walk into a show home it must make potential buyers feel at home and comfortable in the space as well as having that all important 'wow' factor.

  • We love visitors to our show homes to leave feeling inspired and excited about their journey to find their first or next home. Buying a new home with a blank canvas can be exciting but also very daunting with so many Interior styles to choose from. Our job is to show off each house type to its best and if visitors take inspiration from our designs and can see how they can translate this into their own home then we have achieved our goal.

  • There are so many inspiration interior themes at the moment that it's hard to pinpoint what's most on trend. Natural materials, textured accents, velvets, jewel colours, earthy tones, shades of blue and grey is here to stay. Comfortable, inviting and liveable interiors are always winners for show homes.

  • Be brave with your choices and take inspiration from styles which work for you and your family. Running a colour scheme throughout your home always helps to give that 'Show Home' feel as well as having statement pieces of artwork and accessories. What's important is to choose what you love, and you can never go wrong.

When visiting a show home, Linden suggests:

  • Be prepared – think about exactly what you are looking for in terms of space and room numbers, driveway or perhaps a garden. Are you willing to compromise on any of your requirements? Have a plan in place before you visit.

  • Try to evaluate the space and think about how you could use the rooms to suit your family and lifestyle. Could a bedroom be used as home gym or office? How about turning a study into a snug?

  • The sales executives are there to help you – giving information not only about the show home but the rest of the development. They will be happy to show you around the show home, pointing out any particular features and guide you through anything that comes as standard with the property. Don't forget to ask about current prices and any incentives which could help curb the cost of moving.

  • Find out as much as you can about the boiler and other systems used, perhaps comparing the cost of running your new home to your existing utility bills. New homes are up to 50 per cent more energy efficient than their older counterparts.

  • Finally, bring the family along! Any children or teenagers will have an opinion on rooms, features etc so it's good to share ideas on how your potential new home will work for everyone.

Treswell Gardens boasts a stunning range of 175 three and four-bedroom properties, a number of which have already been reserved and sold off plan since their release in October. Prices currently start from £178,500. The sales and marketing suite and show home are open daily from 10.30am until 5pm. Alternatively contact the sales team on 01777 553239.
