370 Homes to Be Delivered Alongside Significant Investment in Appleton

Barratt and David Wilson Homes

A recently approved planning application from Barratt and David Wilson Homes will result in much-needed homes being delivered in Appleton, alongside significant investment in the area.

Orchard Meadows, located on Dipping Brook Avenue, will bring 370 new properties to the area in an expertly crafted range of two, three and four bedroom houses, 111 of which will be affordable homes.

Working with government housing agency Homes England, the scheme will deliver homes at pace in an area of demand and utilise modern methods of construction, including pre-cast floor systems and panellised roof construction.

As well as new properties, the development is set to contribute over £3.1 million to the local area via the planning agreement with Warrington Borough Council.

Approximately £2.4 million of the monies will go to education places at nearby primary schools and secondary schools, whilst £285,000 will contribute to a new healthcare facility in Appleton.

Additionally, £290,000 of the contribution will aid the remodel and upgrade of the leisure facilities at Broomfields Leisure Centre on Broomsfield Road, as well as £80,000 being invested into the improvement of sports pitches at New Lane.

A £10,000 contribution towards the provision of two new bus stops is also included amongst the investment, as well as over £12,000 funding new three vehicle activated traffic control signs, and almost £5K towards additional road safety signage.

Neil Goodwin, Managing Director at Barratt Homes Manchester, said: “We're delighted to announce that the works at our Orchard Meadows site is expected to begin in the summer.

“As a five star housebuilder, it's important that we not only bring a range of award-winning homes to the area, but invest in the community within which we are building.

“We're thrilled we are able to contribute to the improvements of amenities in Appleton and look forward to how the area will progress during our time on-site.”

Managing Director at David Wilson Homes North West, Rob Holbrook, commented: “It's a pleasure to be contributing to the local community with new homes and significant investment as our Orchard Meadows development progresses.

“We hope our contributions will go on to have a long term positive impact on the lives of people living in the Appleton.”
