Birds and Bees Find Dream Home at Tamworth Development

Barratt Homes

With the demand for outdoor spaces now greater than ever, leading developer Barratt Homes is hoping to inspire Tamworth's budding homeowners to consider creating their own wildlife friendly space with its new RSPB-accredited show home garden.

Located on Meadow Road, the Dunstall Park development has been awarded Silver in the wildlife charity's 'Wildlife Show Garden Award'.

Entering into their sixth year of partnership with the UK's largest nature conservation charity, Barratt has made it its mission to improve the way in which nature is incorporated into the communities it builds and is hoping to pass this ethos onto its customers.

By planting multiple varieties of wildflowers and providing bird baths, boxes and tables, Dunstall Park is on its way to providing a safe space for local wildlife to flourish.

Charlotte Ambrose, RSPB Wildlife Advisor said: “Gardens and the wildlife they attract can be a source of joy and comfort even in the most difficult times. Right now, we need to take that joy and comfort where we find it, and nature provides it in bucket (trowel) loads. “

Tanya Silk, Sales Director at Barratt Home West Midlands, said: “We are committed to ensuring our developments are as wildlife friendly as they can be and with the demand for gardens increasing every day, we hope to encourage prospective homeowners to take care of local wildlife by providing plenty of ideas in our Dunstall Park show home.”

But it's not just the birds and the bees that are being taken care of. Dunstall Park's show home has a number of features to support other wildlife. Hedgehog numbers are down by half in the UK due to the loss of habitat, so Dunstall Park has been kitted out with hedgehog highways and a hedgehog home to support the prickly creatures in a suburban environment.[1]
