Barratt Homes Site Managers in Cheshire Rewarded for High Quality Work

Barratt Homes

After news that construction could reconvene in Cheshire, Barratt Homes has received further positive news as three of their Cheshire Site Managers have been rewarded with a top national award for quality from the National House Building Council (NHBC).

Craig Hancock (49), Martin Couch (39), and Peter Fallon (53) have been rewarded for their high-quality work with the prestigious NHBC Pride in the Job Quality award, considered to be the “Oscars of the housebuilding industry”.

Craig, a Site Manager at College Gardens in Ellesmere Port, has been with the housebuilder for 33 years. Starting out as an apprentice bricklayer, he won the NHBC Seal of Excellence award in 2018 and 2019. Regarding his win, he said: “Without the team, none of this would be possible, I can't thank them all enough.

“Winning is a great achievement, it gives me real satisfaction when we can hand over the best possible properties to our customers.”

Martin, a Site Manager at J One Seven in Sandbach, has been with Barratt for seven years and is celebrating his first Pride in the Job Quality award. He said: “Winning the award makes all the hard work that myself and my team do throughout the year all the more worthwhile. I'd like to thank all of my site team, especially my fellow Site Manager, Andrew Couch.”

Continuing into their 40th year, the prestigious Pride in the Job Quality awards recognise the best of the best, highlighting Site Managers from around the UK. Parent company, Barratt Developments' Site Managers won 92 Pride in the Job Quality awards in 2020, more than any other housebuilder.

Liverpool native Peter is based at Imperial Park II in Northwich, and has been with Barratt for 20 years in September. Having won 10 Quality awards, four Seal of Excellence awards, and two Regional awards over the years, he is proud to add another NHBC Pride in the Job Quality award to his list of achievements.

He commented, “Not only is the award good recognition for myself, it's good recognition for my team's hard work.

“The job is demanding, but I enjoy all aspects. Every day is different and I enjoy communicating with people. I have to thank my whole site team, especially my Assistant Site Manager, Michael Richardson. Without them we wouldn't be building the high-quality homes we do.”

Each Site Manager is judged on a range of key criteria including health and safety, their technical knowledge, customer service and attention to detail. Pride in the Job is the most highly regarded competition in the housebuilding industry with just 450 individual winners being chosen from over 11,000 entrants.

Neil Goodwin, Managing Director at Barratt Homes Manchester, said: “During periods of uncertainty, it is great to see our Site Managers being recognised amongst the very best in the country for the high-quality homes they deliver.

“It is now more important than ever that customers have confidence in the homes they are buying, and the mark of a Pride in the Job Quality award shows that their home has been built to the highest of standards.

“We are very proud to have won more of these quality awards than any other housebuilder for 16 years in a row.”
