197 Homes to Be Delivered Alongside Significant Investment in Leyland

Barratt and David Wilson Homes

An upcoming development from Barratt Homes Manchester and David Wilson Homes North West is set to offer significant investment into Leyland through monetary and community contributions.

Centurion Village, located on Doll Lane on the site of the former Leyland Test Track, will bring a range of 197 properties to the area including 59 affordable homes during its first phase, with the agreed planning application approving the possibility for up to 950 properties.

As well as new houses, the development will also deliver onsite public open spaces and various offsite highway improvements, which includes the creation of cycle tracks, bridleways and pedestrian pathways within and beyond the site, and upgrades to nearby roads, such as Titan Way and Midge Hall Lane.

As part of Centurion Village, the five star homebuilders will also create over nine hectares of green infrastructure, which would feature a number of wildlife and landscape corridors, ponds and swales.

Also included in the planning agreement outline is the provision of land for a school within, as well as a local centre.

The process will underpin over 390 jobs from construction on site to the supply chain, with the five star developer also providing a significant monetary investment as part of its Section 106 planning agreement with South Ribble Council and Lancashire County Council.

The funding, which totals £1,262,750, forms part of the planning agreement for the new development and will be used to support services and improve facilities for residents in and around Leyland.

£800,000 of the monies will fund a new bus service to serve the development, as well as £227,515 going towards the improvement of the adjacent Paradise Park, with an additional £50,000 provided to maintain it.

£25,000 will also contribute to the installation of Public Art Works, which will be located at the development or presented on display boards that detail the history of the site.

Neil Goodwin, Managing Director at Barratt Homes Manchester, said: “We're delighted to announce that we will be bringing a high quality collection of new homes to the Leyland area, with works expected to start in the spring.

“As a five star housebuilder, it's important we invest in the communities within which we build, which is why we are thrilled to create a lasting legacy in Leyland that residents in and around the area will benefit from.”

Managing Director at David Wilson Homes North West, Rob Holbrook, commented: “It's a pleasure to be contributing to the local community with new homes and significant investment as our Centurion Village development progresses.

“We hope our contributions will work to regenerate this disused site and go on to have a long-term positive impact on the lives of people living in Leyland.”
