Barratt Homes

Cambridge MP Daniel Zeichner was recently invited to help mark Barratt Homes laying the 1,000thfoundation at its Trumpington Meadows development.

Mr Zeichner attended the new 1,200-home community on Hauxton Road and was able to see first hand the development and investment that has gone into the area over the past eight years since construction began.

He was met by Barratt's Managing Director, Simon Wood, Contracts Manager, Gary Nott, and Sales Director Annette Hurst, who welcomed him to the Covid-19 adapted sales centre to show him the new measures in place.

The MP was then taken on a tour of the site to see the new play area, the multi-use games area and the properties which overlook the 148-acre country park. He also went to the location of the 1,000thfoundation which marks a major milestone for the development.

Mr Zeichner said: “It was a pleasure to walk around the community that I have seen grow up over the last decade. The proximity of the country park and quiet streets make this a very attractive location, particularly convenient for those working at the nearby bio-medical campus."

With £22.5 million being invested into the local infrastructure in and around Trumpington Meadows is bringing a wealth of benefits to the area for new and existing residents.

Simon Wood, Managing Director at Barratt Homes Eastern Counties, said: “It was a great honour to have Mr Zeichner attend our Trumpington Meadows development to see how the new community has progressed since work began in 2012.

“This was a great way for us to celebrate laying the 1,000th foundation and to update Daniel on the progress we've been making here.

“Not only is Trumpington Meadows home to a variety of different property types to suit a range of buyers, but it's a flourishing community with so many vital amenities which we're so proud of.

“We now look forward to finishing our 1,000th property and making a start on our final 200 homes.”

Trumpington Meadows was one of the first developments in the UK to win the prestigious 'Built for Life' award, which recognises the community as an attractive, functional and overall better place to live.

With Trumpington Meadows Primary School located on the development, in addition to supermarkets within the community, the essentials are close to home.

The development also has a guided busway and its own country park in partnership with the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire Wildlife Trust.
