Plain Sailing for UK Sotheby's International Realty Sale of Historic Property in Woolwich

UK Sotheby

Leading international estate agent, UK Sotheby's International Realty has sold an important historic home in Woolwich, South East London, believed to be only one of a handful of private residences with its own boating and fishing lake.

Rush Grove House undoubtedly occupies one of the most remarkable locations in London.  The property has the feeling and views of a country estate, but is perfectly positioned for access to the City, Canary Wharf and City airport.

The Grade II Georgian house lies within three acres of gardens, grounds and private lake.  Built in 1816, historically the house was once the residence of a Commander of the Royal Marine barracks, befitting Woolwich's important naval and military heritage.

Guy Bradshaw, Managing director at UK Sotheby's International Realty (UK SIR) comments: “This is a highly important sale in the area of Woolwich, it's a significant home entrenched in wonderful history, surrounded by nature in a London location. We were delighted to achieve the full asking price, and more importantly find a wonderful custodian who is excited to maintain the estate and enjoy life at Rush Grove.”

Standing in a most tranquil spot, featured in the film 'Turner', Rush Grove House has been sensitively remodelled into two fine residences.  This versatile property blends period with

contemporary design to create a comfortable refined home perfect for modern day living. There are three reception rooms and the principal rooms have far reaching views across the garden towards the lake.  There are up to six bedrooms, four bathrooms and ample off-street private parking as you would expect for a house of this stature.

Rush Grove house sold quickly and achieved the asking price of £4.4 million. Bought by an Austrian living in Canary Wharf at the time, but looking for a London property close to nature with private gardens and lots of space.  The swift transaction reflects the appetite for fine period homes south of the Thames, offering all the convenience of a London lifestyle.   Woolwich is poised to benefit further from the arrival of the new Crossrail link anticipated in 2021.
