A Masterclass in Locality: Albion Nord Showcases Nature Inspired Interiors at 80 Holland Park

Eighty Holland Park

September 2021: Leading design house Albion Nord has unveiled its parkland inspired interiors at Christian Candy's latest project, 80 Holland Park. Overseen by Creative Director Camilla Clarke, the design brief responds to neighbouring Holland Park, with a fresh, earthy colour palette, strong natural materiality and hand-crafted sculptural pieces setting the tone for the project. The calm, mature aesthetic is interspersed with rich pops of colour, abstract artworks and geometric patterns, bringing a contemporary, playful edge to the spaces.

A boutique, fully-serviced development of 25 apartments, 80 Holland Park offers residents access to a wealth of external spaces through private balconies, terraces, courtyards and gardens as well as direct access to the 54-acre Holland park. In recognition, Clarke and her team incorporated a natural palette. Light and fresh tones of spring and summer, layered with rich earthy greens, burnt oranges evocative of autumnal leaves and deep moody blues.

Views of the park and the wider West London neighbourhood have been celebrated through an eclectic selection of furniture, accessories, art and biophilia including a wealth of natural foliage and the soothing tones of natural Edward Bulmer paint. These sit alongside statement artwork and textured sculptural pieces. Strong materiality actively draws the eye through the space, echoing the tree-lined, 'boulevard' style views seen throughout Holland Park.

Finding inspiration in the natural world, Albion Nord has accentuated contrasting textures throughout its designs and created a cocoon-like atmosphere. A white boucle headboard highlights the soft texture of sheep's wool, whilst bamboo blinds and the natural fibres of rattan chairs offer tactility that is a stark contrast to the sensual curves of Pinch lampshades, the smoothness of carrara marble and wooden dining tables that have been selected to show off their unique grains. The earthy shades that characterise the apartments are complemented by pops of colour as you move between spaces; a master bedroom painted in Farrow & Ball 'De Nimes' features contrasting geometric prints, and a guest bedroom instantly envelopes you in an explosion of warm coral.

Champions of individuality and character, Albion Nord also partnered with a collection of independent artisans to create one-off pieces, carefully arranging these alongside a considered selection of both new and antique items. Longevity was a key factor in the design and sourcing of material, with bespoke carpentry by British-based studios Stride & Co and Treeslounge showcasing ethically-sourced and reclaimed timber and English pippy oak furniture. Moroccan inspired handwoven material artworks by LRNCE add interest to the space and showcase the very best in sustainable design.

Whilst the decor is impactful, Albion Nord has ensured all spaces are effortlessly liveable above all else. Apartments are highly atmospheric and open plan areas are unified across dining and living zones, with enough space for formal entertaining and casual dining. One of the elegant but striking dining areas is finished in Farrow & Ball 'Down Pipe' and adorned with a London map by Ben Pentreath split across 24 individual frames. Dark leather chairs and velvet cushions complete the indulgent and rich aesthetic.

Acknowledging the client's working needs, Albion Nord also designed characterful study areas, including an Ernest Hemingway-inspired study with rich green walls, a wooden wrap-around live edge desk, kentia palms and antique bamboo folding chairs mixed with curiosities and books. The walls and ceiling are painted the same colour, cocooning the space and setting it apart from the rest of the home.

Camilla Clarke, Creative Director at Albion Nord, comments; “Each apartment at 80 Holland Park has been carefully considered, it could not be further from a 'one size fits all' approach. We strive to create meaningful spaces set apart from mass consumption; responding to the changing needs of today's buyer yet still offering longevity in terms of quality and style. The park has proved a great source of inspiration and the natural world continues to offer unique and eye-catching materials for us to work with. By mixing foraged, pre-loved items, contemporary and bespoke pieces alongside explosions of abstract colour, we have given each residence its own distinct sense of identity. These spaces are not only elegant and modern, but incredibly comfortable, welcoming and ultimately, liveable.”

A representative of CPC Group, comments; “This design aesthetic has received much attention and responds very well to our buyer's tastes and lifestyle aspirations. Without doubt the interior design relates elegantly to our proximity to Holland Park and our clients so far have thoroughly enjoyed the livability and sophistication of this scheme which feels very fresh, contemporary and inviting for a wide range of buyers looking for a home in this beautiful part of central London.”
