Leading housing association Bromford is raising awareness for breast cancer charity Breast Cancer Now, by swapping regular safety gear for pink alternatives at its site in Astley Cross, on Wear It Pink Day.
Taking place on Friday 21st October, Wear It Pink Day forms a part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which runs throughout October. Wear It Pink Day is one of the UK's biggest fundraisers, and sees people across the country wear pink for the day in return for a donation.
The events are organised by Breast Cancer Now, a charity that funds world-class research, supports those affected by breast cancer and works with hospitals to improve treatments and services.
Bromford is getting involved at its development in the village of Astley Cross in Stourport-on-Severn, where its construction team of 60 workers are donning pink hi-vis jackets and hard hats.
In further support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the housing association will be donating a range of items to Look Good Feel Better, another national cancer charity. Look Good Feel Better runs workshops led by volunteers in the beauty industry, supporting those going through chemotherapy by providing practical advice and boosting body confidence.
Simon Kershaw, Head of Construction at Bromford, said: “We are very proud to be showing our support for Breast Cancer Now, and to be helping raise awareness for such an incredible cause. Our site team were all delighted to take part.
“At Bromford we put people and communities at the heart of all we do. Breast cancer is sadly something that has affected the majority of us, so it was a no-brainer to get behind this cause and swap out our regular PPE for pink versions.
“We hope that Breast Cancer Now has a hugely successful Wear It Pink Day, and is able to continue offering support to the individuals and families who need them most.”
