The winners of the 14th annual First Time Buyer Readers' Awards have been revealed on Friday 1st September in a star-studded awards ceremony attended by the biggest names in housing. The event was hosted by television luminary Nicki Chapman, who presented accolades in 17 categories, including the coveted Affordable Housing Provider of the Year and Private Developer of the Year awards, won by L&Q and Weston Homes respectively.
The highly anticipated awards, which have been an annual calendar staple since their inception in 2009, recognises the highest quality service and delivery of new homes in categories that celebrate everything from the best developments small and large, to the most generative partnerships to law firms for conveyancing. The event also saw two additional accolades bestowed – the Editor's Award, handed to Nick Lieb from Share to Buy, and the first ever Jonnie Irwin Legacy Award, awarded to Esaiyas Mollallegn from SO Resi Partnerships for his landmark education programme.
Designed to celebrate and empower the property industry to continue to deliver outstanding homes for the next generation of homeowners, the First Time Buyer Readers' Awards champion the highest quality housing and share best practice throughout the industry. Above all, the organisers of the First Time Buyer Readers' Awards challenge the notion that homeownership is impossible for first time buyers.
Lynda Clark, CEO of First Time Buyer Group, comments: “This year's awards have brought together property's most forward thinking individuals and organisations, all united by a shared goal to bring homeownership back into reach for first time buyers. Against the backdrop of the cost of living crisis, mortgage turmoil, and the end of Help to Buy earlier this year, achieving homeownership has proven a test of character for first time buyers and housing providers alike. However, I'm very pleased to say that everyone who was shortlisted this year has risen to the challenges that the property market has thrown at us over the last 12 months, with this year's winners leading the charge.
“Our judges and voters alike have been impressed by some truly innovative entries this year, including the first ever show home in the Metaverse, alongside innovative restoration projects, and truly forward thinking affordable homes developments. With competition for all 17 categories fiercer than ever this year, our 2023 winners have had to work harder than ever before to come out on top. It's been incredibly exciting to watch it all unfold, and I congratulate all of our winners this year.”
The shortlist for the First Time Buyer Readers' Awards was compiled by an expert panel of judges, with all shortlisted entries subject to a round of voting by readers of First Time Buyer Magazine before the winners were selected. This year, the awards were held at the London Marriott Hotel in Grosvenor Square;
