Rob and Tracey Brown, 57 and 58, recently took the opportunity to start over when they bought their forever home at Harron Homes' Bilsthorpe Chase development in Bilsthorpe.

The couple looked to move away from Bedfordshire following a bereavement in the family. Rob found a new job in Grantham and, while house-hunting around the Newark area, the couple spotted Harron-branded road signs. Intrigued, they followed the signs until they happened upon Bilsthorpe Chase and the rest was history.

Tracey said, “It was such a breath of fresh air when we first came across Bilsthorpe Chase. It was so lovely to see that the homes were all different and didn't fit the cookie cutter look other housebuilders use. It felt like there was a more personal touch put into the design of the development. We've always liked new builds, but Bilsthorpe instantly had a nice feel to it as we drove into the development. It has lovely green spaces and the homes are all set back on the road.”

Having previously worked for housebuilders herself, Tracey knew what to expect from the homebuying process.

She said, “We've both lived in new homes before, and I worked in a regional office of a housebuilder, so I know that Harron offer a higher quality of home than other housebuilders. The optional extras were also an attractive part of the homes at Harron.”

The couple knew they had found their dream home when they looked around the four bedroom detached Windsor.

Rob said, “When we met Hannah, the sales executive, we were looking for a three bed, but she convinced us to look at a four bedroom property and we were delighted to find how well the home suits our needs. Having grown-up children from our previous relationships, we have a big family who like to visit. The four bed means if our children and their families visit they have their own rooms.

“We are really enjoying making the property our own. I'm going to build our own decking and get stuck in the garden as I enjoy a project, so it's useful to have the extra storage that the utility rooms and integral garage provide.”

Tracey added, “The house is perfect, it's exactly what we needed and we found it at exactly the right time. It's easier to maintain than our previous property and it has a beautiful kitchen.”

The couple are enjoying the change in pace of village life.

Tracey said, “The location is absolutely ideal. We like being in a village on the edge of the countryside, but it's still within close proximity to towns like Mansfield and Newark.”

Rob agreed, “It's lovely to be part of a small development. The quiet, slower pace of life suits us well. We are enjoying getting to know our neighbours and having that sense of a community around us.

“We couldn't recommend Harron enough; they've been excellent on communication and updates right through to coming back to help with extra touch-ups around the house.”

Tracey added, “Our experience has been brilliant; Hannah and all the site team have been lovely, helpful and positive and say hello when you walk past. It's refreshing to feel so welcome and looked after. The site team even helped us move in heavy items. It's really been above and beyond our expectations.”
