Homeowners at Barratt and David Wilson Homes' Darwin Green development have the potential to make substantial cost savings on their energy bills, while enjoying eco-friendly and sustainable living.
The new property features are all about making homes super energy-efficient, in order to ensure the ability to use less energy for heating, lighting, and other everyday needs.
Such features include electric car charging points and solar photovoltaic panels, and insulation, ventilation and heat and waste water heat recovery are also enhanced.
Buildings are having to perform to higher standards – reducing CO2 emissions by 31%, together with a new emphasis on low carbon heating systems. These measures are also an interim step towards the Future Homes Standard that will arrive in 2025.
All Barratt and David Wilson homes are designed to be up to 63% more energy-efficient, potentially saving homeowners up to £2,200 per year on utility bills. For properties at Darwin Green under the new building regulations, these figures can increase to being 74% cheaper to run, with savings of up to £2,590.
Will Phair, Sales Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Cambridgeshire, said: “We're thrilled to introduce greater energy efficiency into the homes at Darwin Green. It's all about giving our homeowners the best of both worlds – beautiful, comfortable homes that are also budget-friendly.
“With the potential to save up to £2,590 per year, new build properties are a game-changer for our customers.
“As such, we'd encourage anybody interested in finding a new property in Cambridgeshire to speak to our Sales Advisers to find out more about the new properties available, to ensure they don't miss out on the first pick of the new homes.”
Darwin Green is steadily growing into a vibrant community, which will feature a central park with over 15 acres of green open space and sports pitches. Future plans for the development also include a purpose-built primary school, supermarket and library.
Residents can also benefit from excellent commuter links and Cambridge City centre being only 1.6 miles away, with cycle and pedestrian friendly walking routes around the development which promote sustainable living.
