Andrew Henry Interiors Demonstrate That Bold Is Beautiful in Three New Show Homes

Andrew Henry Interiors

Award-winning design studio Andrew Henry Interiors has pushed creative boundaries once again and curated three show homes for bunnyhomes, at its development in Cornwall, The Watchmakers. Directed by three leading designers at Andrew Henry Interiors, the remarkable project has demonstrated the benefits of departing from the ordinary, showcasing the incredible results of challenging the traditional appearance of a 'show home'.

Rachel Menear – Marketing Manager at bunnyhomes - comments: “We tasked Andrew Henry Interiors to portray our own ideology in our three show homes at The Watchmaker's - Be Bold, Be Brave, Be Bunny - and they most certainly have achieved this. Each show home has an incredible wow factor, and customers have had only positive reactions to the designs as soon as they've stepped through the doors. Andrew's design team are not afraid of bright colour schemes and dramatic artwork, which perfectly portrays the bunnyhomes brand. I was particularly impressed with the team's ability to create something which was as unique as it was beautiful.”

Poppy Cottage, a three-bedroom home has been given an overall theme of retro. Throughout the scheme, a colour palette of Ochre, Slate Blue and Terracotta was paired with geometric shapes and patterns to bring desired playfulness and a sense of nostalgia. Each show home has its own contrasting signature style, as well as an iconic piece of furniture. For Poppy Cottage, the team opted for a vintage mid-century teak sideboard and unique half height panelled wall with a shelf to display retro accessories and artwork.

Demonstrating Andrew Henry Interiors' meticulous attention to detail, the kitchen features a theme that harmonizes with a retro-style integrated Smeg oven, complemented by a fully stocked pantry. This includes iconic foods from the 1970s like Carnation condensed milk, Bird's Eye powdered custard, and Oxo cubes.

In the primary bedroom, the base orange colour is elevated with a 60s-inspired feature wall and is accompanied by a funky headboard. Two children's bedrooms are accessorised with retro toys, books and prints, reminding visitors of their childhood and creating a memorable feature and additional talking point for visitors.

Carrie Bond, lead designer on the home, comments: “The retro trend will always be popular as people enjoy reminiscing and like to be reminded of past times whether that's fashion, music or interior design. The aesthetics of the 1960's and 70's enables the home's design to be arty, vibrant and joyful with an audacious colour scheme. The use of paint and wall art not only ensures continuity but also provides a sense of surprise upon entry of each room.”

Throughout the home, beautiful window dressings from Andrew Henry Interiors' soft furnishings brand, Thread & Dandy add an understated luxury to each room. In the lounge, matching full length curtains and a roman blind combine abstract reds, oranges, whites and blues. A mustard-coloured indulgent sofa and finishing items including an old-school record player create another talking point.

In the second, two-bedroom show home, Honeysuckle House, designer Dianna Colwell fulfilled bunnyhomes' brief by creating a Designers Guild inspired scheme.

Dianna comments: “The Designers Guild brand is bright and playful, so it would make a lasting and joyful impression on visitors to the show home. To create an impact without making the home feel busy I emphasised the ceilings, often a forgotten space. I painted all the ceilings on the ground floor in a soft green which kept the space light and airy but added subtle effect. The bathrooms were a different story as I colour drenched the two en-suites and fully wallpapered the cloakroom in a vibrant Designers Guild pink and green print. Finally, and most intrepidly, I entirely wallpapered the primary bedroom ceiling with a bold but brilliant flowered pattern again from Designers Guild.”

Notable points in this show home include the two headboards which were upholstered in fantastic Designers Guild fabrics, show-stopping bespoke canvases and finally, Designers Guild material and paint samples used were slotted into a deep box frame to show the origins of the scheme.

The final show home, Ivy House, a four-bedroom family house, was inspired by the maximalist design trend that has made a resurgence. Prevailing themes in this show home are bold and striking statements, with painted skirtings and architraves harmonizing with the wallpapers, alongside distinctive joinery.

Paul Garland, designer of this show home, comments: “This show home is definitely a statement house; every room tells a story, from the smallest room of the house (the cloakroom), to the generous living area. One of the stand-out pieces is in the bunnyhomes Magic Room. We created a bespoke joinery desk/drinks unit and alongside the bold wallpaper - Happy Hour Midnight Pink by Brand McKenzie - this room evokes luxury, but with unmissable points of fun-filled design.”

Indelible features include an upcycled dresser in the family area which was repainted and strategically complements the greens and pinks of the room, the unforgettable flamingo-style lamp shade, and abstract artwork which cleverly mirrors the curtains. Each bedroom possesses its own significant style with one bedroom fully embracing the maximal trend, by using the same Alice Temperley for Romo pattern in its roman blind, bedhead wall, headboard and cushions, creating a daring feast for the eyes.

The Watchmakers by bunnyhomes is situated in Bodmin, Cornwall and the homes are part of the housebuilder's Craft Collection. Seeped in fascinating history, the development embraces the past and future, as do the three show homes created by Andrew Henry Interiors.
