Leggett Immobilier International proudly sponsor The Angouleme Circuit des Ramparts - 13th, 14th and 15th September.

In 1938, as the Second World War loomed, a visionary initiative emerged to introduce racing cars to the city of Valois, fueled by the passion of enthusiasts. This endeavor received backing from the Charente section of the ACDSVC (Automobile Club Deux Sèvres Vendée Charente), particularly through its president.

The inaugural edition of the Grand Circuit de Vitesse Automobile des Remparts, which would later be recognized as the “Circuit des Remparts d'Angoulême,” took place on July 2, 1939. The event was an immediate success, attracting numerous competitors, described as "a pleiad of aces" in the promotional materials of 1939. Notable drivers such as Maurice Trintignant, Raymond Sommer, and Pierre Wimille competed fiercely during this initial event. Renowned automotive brands like Bugatti, Alfa Romeo, Delahaye, and Maserati enhanced the circuit's prestige, making it a highly anticipated occasion, as detailed by Jean-Luc Fournier in his work "An Immutable Circuit - History of the Circuit des Remparts d'Angoulême."

However, just two months following the inaugural race, the onset of the Second World War halted the Circuit des Remparts. This interruption was not permanent, as the second edition re-emerged in 1947, expanding to include motorcycle races, and later, in 1950, sidecar and bicycle races. The Circuit des Remparts has remained unchanged since its inception, featuring a 1,279-meter "turnstile" where hundreds of vintage vehicles compete. It continues to stand as one of the last urban automobile circuits, alongside those in Monaco and Pau.

Come meet our Angouleme Team and enjoy the weekend.
