New build home buyers can save an average of £979 per year on their energy bills, according to a new report from the Home Builders Federation (HBF). That's because the average new build home is so energy efficient that owners save a staggering 50% on their heating, hot water and lighting costs, with 86% of new builds achieving an EPC rating of A or B (compared to 5% of existing older properties). In celebration of New Homes Week 2025 (3rd-9th February), housebuilders are highlighting the benefits of new, sustainably built, energy efficient homes – such as those by Elivia Homes at Summerfield in Staple, Kent.
A collection of 11 elegant private residences, Summerfield showcases the outstanding sustainability credentials available to those who buy new builds. The homes have been created in a way that minimises their effect on the environment through sustainable design, building methods and materials. Whilst built using traditional methods, the homes demonstrate excellent sustainability credentials compared to older construction approaches.
High-quality insulation ensures every home at Summerfield feels comfortable and cosy year-round, supported by windows and doors installed to exacting air-tightness standards. In addition, every home comes with an air source heat pump, underfloor heating and an electric vehicle charging point, supporting buyers to live more eco-friendly lifestyles.
Philip Brown, Sales and Marketing Director at Elivia Homes Eastern, comments: “Summerfield exemplifies the energy efficiency standards that new build homes can deliver – along with Elivia's inherent commitment to embracing local architectural heritage. The result is a sophisticated collection of highly sustainable homes that have the potential to save families hundreds of pounds per year on the energy bills.”
The magnificent properties for private sale are four-bedroom, detached houses, all with beautiful outdoor space that reflects the abundant greenery of the surrounding countryside. Every Elivia Homes development is designed to benefit the local environment by delivering a measurably better habitat, with flora and fauna supporting enhanced biodiversity – as Summerfield highlights. At the heart of the development sits a beautiful open green space with large trees and a pond, while large front and rear gardens and a programme of tree and shrub planting give the whole development a lush, natural feel that befits Staple's picturesque, semi-rural setting.
While the homes are surrounded by the idyllic Kent countryside, they are still within easy reach of the bustling city of Canterbury, packed with independent shops and superb restaurants, and the pretty seaside town of Broadstairs and its golden sandy beaches. Canterbury West station, just nine miles from Summerfield, provides direct trains to London St Pancras in under an hour. Trains from Canterbury East and Canterbury West also run into London Victoria and Charing Cross, making Summerfield an excellent choice for commuters.
For families seeking local schooling, Summerfield also has much to offer. The nearby St Faith's Prep School and Nursery, rated “Double Excellent” in its recent inspection, takes pupils from reception through to Year Six. For secondary school age pupils, Kent is home to an excellent choice of grammar schools – more so than any other county in the UK – along with a selection of well-regarded state and independent schools.
Prices at Summerfield start from £800,000. For further information, visit https://www.eliviahomes.co.uk/developments/summerfield.
