Local Children Celebrate Opening of New Playpark at Pennyfarthing Homes' Oakwood Grove

Pennyfarthing Homes

Local children – and their grownups – headed out into the sunshine on Friday 13th June to celebrate the opening of a brand-new playpark in Alderholt. The beautiful new play area is part of the new Oakwood Grove community being created by family-run housebuilder Pennyfarthing Homes.

Oakwood Grove is an elegant collection of contemporary residences nestled in rural Alderholt. The development has been designed to appeal to a wide range of local buyers, with homes ranging from one to four bedrooms and including apartments, bungalows and houses. For family buyers, the superb new playpark provides a safe, sociable space where children can engage in imaginative play and let off steam.

The launch on Friday 13th June saw youngsters delighting in the new play equipment. The park has been designed to amuse children of all ages, with adjoining areas for younger and older children. Packed with equipment, and with an emphasis on wooden and eco-friendly materials, it includes a seesaw, rocker and climbing house with a slide for smaller children. For older children, a climbing wall, climbing net and poles to swing on adding to the fun, while the large round swing proved popular with youngsters of all ages.

Backed by mature trees, the park provides a picturesque natural setting for grownups to enjoy, as well as their little ones. Adding to the excitement at the launch event Pennyfarthing Homes laid on free ice creams and face painting, ensuring the playpark's official opening was an event to remember. A ribbon-cutting ceremony with Dorset Council formalised the opening, adding to the celebratory air of the event.

Mark Adams, Executive Chairman at Pennyfarthing Homes comments: “We've already seen keen interest from many families in the aspirational lifestyle on offer at Oakwood Grove. We are thrilled to have now opened the lovely new playpark, providing an important outdoor space for children to climb, jump, run, swing, slide and generally enjoy adventuring in the fresh air. With benches for parents and carers to enjoy a well-deserved rest, the new playground is set to deliver a positive impact for Oakwood Grove residents and the wider community.”

In addition to the popular new playpark, Pennyfarthing Homes has created a designated SANG (Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace) on the northern edge of Alderholt. Consisting of woodland paths, a pond and natural habitats, with birdboxes and habitats for bees, bats and hedgehogs to boost biodiversity, the idyllic area adds to the variety of outdoor attractions at Oakwood Grove.

Enjoying time outdoors is a cornerstone of local life in and around Alderholt. The charming village is just a short distance from the incredible natural landscape of the New Forest National Park, while the stunning coastline around Bournemouth is only a 25-minute drive away. This diversity of natural environments makes Oakwood Grove an ideal base for anyone who enjoys rural and coastal pursuits, from hiking and horse-riding to windsurfing and wakeboarding. Those who enjoy the latter don't even need to head to the coast, thanks to the New Forest Water Park (just nine miles from Alderholt) providing a massive wake park, aqua park and kayaking/standup paddleboarding centre.

With stylishly designed properties and spacious interiors, Oakwood Grove is also well suited to buyers seeking a quieter lifestyle. The serenity of the new community is perfectly attuned to its picturesque location, while the thoughtfully designed homes provide flexible spaces that suit everyone from growing families and home-based workers to retirees.

Externally, the properties blend smart brickwork with contemporary weatherboarding and casement windows, honouring the local architectural heritage while delivering a sense of unique style across the Oakwood Grove community. Internally, the homes feel bright and airy, with large windows letting in plenty of natural light. Kitchen and living areas are open plan for easy entertaining and a lovely flow to family life.

Homes at Oakwood Grove boast impressive sustainability credentials, from air source heat pumps to solar panels and EV charging points to selected properties and every home comes with a 10-year warranty, for total peace of mind.

In addition to the new playground, Oakwood Grove residents have all of daily life's essentials nearby. Alderholt boasts a convenience store, pub, veterinary clinic, garden centre and well-used recreation ground with a children's play area, multi-use sports court, youth shelter, tennis courts, sports pitches and sports and social club. For families with young children, the 'Good' Ofsted-rated St James' Church of England First School and Nursery is under a mile from the new homes. Having the bustling towns of Fordingbridge and Salisbury nearby adds to the area's charms.
