The latest market comment from Leggett International Real Estate shows that buyers from the UK, USA and northern Europe are still very much in love with the heritage of French property and are snapping up bargain property to renovate.
They see the potential to restore these ramshackle buildings into beautiful holiday homes, or gites/chambres d'hotes, thus adding value and long-term capital gain. This investment helps stimulate the regional housing market and local economy, particularly in rural areas.
Highlights from the report include:

45% of French homeowners plan on carrying out renovation work within the next two years

The report also includes a section offering practical advice on property renovations, written by an independent chartered surveyor and Spécialiste du Patrimoine, accrédite RICS. It also includes examples of properties that Leggett is currently selling, that are suitable for renovation.
