On Friday 17 October, housebuilder Stonebond, the developer behind Stonebond at Wintringham, partnered with Wintringham Primary Academy to support a vibrant and educational Diwali-themed event. Led by parents Neha Aggarwal and Gurinder Maan, this Diwali-themed event was designed to spark curiosity and to engage young learners. The celebration welcomed 40 enthusiastic Year 2 pupils for an afternoon of cultural enrichment, and through visual and creative activities, the event brought the colourful spirit of Diwali to life.
Stonebond supported the event by leading a fun arts and crafts workshop inspired by traditional Diwali celebrations. This involved the children creating firework masterpieces with chalk and chalk-based pastels and carefully putting together their own decorative lanterns.
Neha Aggarwal, Parent and Organiser of the Event commented: “It was such a joy to organise this event, and we would like to thank Wintringham Primary Academy for the opportunity. Along with the vibrant arts and crafts workshop hosted by Stonebond, we also screened a short educational video about Diwali for the children and followed it up with a lively Q&A session. The children were really engaged, and they also loved the washable Henna tattoos, which added a fun and memorable touch to the event. It was a special afternoon and a valuable opportunity to introduce children to the richness of different cultures within their community. We're also grateful to Stonebond for their commitment to community engagement.”
Annette Cole, Sales & Marketing Director at Stonebond comments: “It was brilliant for us to work so closely with the Wintringham community on this meaningful event that brings culture into children's learning. Running the arts and crafts activities for Diwali was great fun, and it was wonderful to see how much the children enjoyed expressing themselves creatively.”
Maxim Hall, Deputy Headteacher at Wintringham Primary Academy said: “The children enjoyed the busy Diwali event so much. There was so much to learn and get involved with, and they loved working with Stonebond on the arts and crafts. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to explore the traditions of Diwali and experience its vibrant colours and themes first-hand.”
