As demand for homes available with shared ownership continues to grow, the government-funded scheme is fast becoming one of the most popular ways for buyers to afford their own home. With a lower deposit requirement making homeownership more affordable and accessible, 76% of shared ownership purchases came from first-time buyers in the last year[1]. Now, housebuilder Latimer – part of Clarion Housing Group – is offering the chance for eager Cambridge buyers to find out more about the scheme and their eligibility at a dedicated shared ownership event this November.
On Saturday, 8th November, between 10am and 12pm, anyone interested in learning how shared ownership can offer a launchpad onto the property ladder in Cambridge is invited to join Latimer for an informative session. Held at Salento Marleigh, just a stone's throw from Latimer's available homes at Marleigh Park, the drop-in event will feature an overview of shared ownership by Latimer and advice from independent financial advisors, Metro Finance. There will be the chance to answer any burning questions on eligibility and affordability, as well as an opportunity to discover more about Latimer's shared ownership homes available in Cambridge. The event is free to attend, but guests are kindly asked to reserve their spot by signing up for a ticket here: https://www.latimerhomes.com/new-build-homes/cambridgeshire/cambridge/marleigh-park/event-enquiry.
Lucas Chrysanthou, Regional Sales Director at Latimer by Clarion Housing Group, comments: “Shared ownership is an affordable, achievable first step onto the property ladder for many first-time buyers and second time buyers who may not be able to afford to buy on the open market. We're delighted to be hosting an event that will further educate those interested in the scheme. Minimum deposits from as little as £8,126 at Marleigh Park position homeownership within reach for buyers that are struggling to save a large deposit. Buying your first home can be daunting, with information overload sometimes adding more stress to the process. By providing a chance for people to learn more about shared ownership before they buy, we're hoping to make the process a more enjoyable journey for buyers in Cambridge.”
With shared ownership, buyers only need to raise a deposit based on the share they're purchasing, not the full market value, making homeownership more accessible than ever. This flexible scheme allows buyers to purchase additional shares in their home as and when their circumstances allow, providing a gradual path to full ownership. And it's not just first-time buyers that can buy with shared ownership. As long as you don't currently own a property, anyone can buy with the scheme, making it an appealing option to single person households, divorcees and downsizers too.
Situated just three miles from Cambridge city centre, Marleigh Park is Latimer's offering of one and two bedroom apartments and two and three bedroom houses available with shared ownership. A thriving new neighbourhood ideal for families and boasting 57 acres of new green space, residents here will also have access to a host of new amenities including a community centre, public square, primary school, nursery, deli and a Co-Op. A brand new reformer pilates studio has also just opened. Inside, homes enjoy open-plan living/dining areas and plentiful storage whilst benefitting from a number of sustainable features including air source heat pumps, underfloor heating to the ground floor and EV charging points. Prices start from £162,525 for a 33% share of a two bedroom, mid terrace house.
Alongside Marleigh Park, Latimer also has homes available at Springstead Village in Cherry Hinton, Barley Green in Saffron Walden and a collection of one to four bedroom homes for outright sale coming in early 2026 at Lumo at Eddington.
