Seeing the Sites: Martley School Pupils Learn About Importance of Site Safety at Lioncourt Homes Development

Lioncourt Homes

Pupils at Martley CE Primary School have learned all about construction site safety during a visit to Lioncourt Homes' Martley Fields development.

31 children aged between eight and 10 were welcomed to the 83-home site for an engaging, educational session, demonstrating the importance of staying away from building sites and the safety measures construction workers follow.

Split into three groups, the pupils took part in activities testing hazard perception, identifying machinery, and consolidation of knowledge learned about how homes are built safely and responsibly.

The visit, led by Construction Director Danny Tunstall, formed part of the five-star homebuilder's commitment to supporting its communities and inspiring the builders of the future, fostering an early understanding of construction and the career opportunities it provides.

Martley Fields, overseen by an award-winning site manager, has delivered a collection of high-quality, sustainable homes in the heart of the Worcestershire countryside, and welcomed its first residents earlier this year.

Lucy Cox, Headteacher at Martley CE Primary School said: “Our pupils enjoyed visiting the Martley Fields site. It was a valuable experience to learn about the dangers of construction and how to keep safe.

“We're grateful to Lioncourt Homes for delivering this session, which exposed the pupils to something fresh and different, and the team on site helped to make such an important topic so engaging and fun.”

Danny Tunstall, Construction Director at Lioncourt Homes, said: “The children were very enthusiastic about learning how homes are built and left with a better understanding of the dangers of a building site and how we keep ourselves safe at work.

“Safety is our top priority and it's vital that young people understand the risks and hazards involved in construction.

“We hope the visit has sparked an interest in the industry, as even at a young age, it's beneficial to start thinking about future career paths.”

The development is located off Berrow Green Road, eight miles west of Worcester, and close to the A44, which links to Oxford, the Cotswolds and central Wales.

Lioncourt Homes currently has a variety of two, three, four and five bedroom homes available starting from £300,000. For more information, please visit https://www.lioncourthomes.com/housing-developments/worcestershire/martley-fields/.
