Southampton-based Connect It Utility Services (CIUS) has announced its sponsorship of British shot-put champion Serena Vincent, in a partnership set to help propel one of the UK's brightest athletics talents toward international success.
At just 23 years old, Serena is already the current British Indoor Champion and ranked among the top 15 shot putters in Europe. With her sights firmly set on representing Great Britain at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, this new sponsorship provides vital support as she competes across Europe and embarks on a journey that sets her on an international sporting stage. Last year, Serena stepped up from the under-23s to the senior ranks, now competing against some of the sport's most established athletes.
“The sponsorship from Connect It is incredible, and I am so grateful to be working with them,” said Serena. “Competing across Europe is essential for my development and qualification for major championships, but it's also expensive. This support allows me to focus fully on training and performance, knowing I have a local company backing me every step of the way.”
“Reaching the Olympics has always been my ultimate goal. It would be an incredible honour to represent Great Britain on the world stage, and every competition, every training session is another step closer to making that dream a reality.”
Serena's athletics journey began in Portsmouth after a series of childhood running injuries led her to try her hand at throwing events, a twist of fate that has sparked a remarkable career. Based in Southampton, she trains under the guidance of renowned coaches Mike Winch, one of Britain's leading throws coaches, and Judy Oakes, the long-standing British women's shot-put record holder.
Connect It Utility Services, a leading multi-utility provider working across the South Coast, is proud to champion Serena's ambitions both on and off the field.
“Serena's story really inspired us,” said Daniel Collins, Head of Sales & Marketing at Connect It Utility Services. “Her determination, resilience, and drive to succeed reflect our own values as a business. We're excited to support her on her journey and to watch her continue to achieve great things.”
As part of the partnership, Serena will also take part in community and company events throughout the year, inspiring others with her story and encouraging young people to get involved in sport.
