Lighting Up Lockview: Newark Pupils Brighter and Safer on School Walks This Winter Following Reflective Donation

Platform Home Ownership

Pupils at a Newark primary school are more visible on walks to and from school this winter following a donation of reflective bag tags from Platform Home Ownership.

All 208 children at Christ Church C of E Primary School in the new Middlebeck community received a luminous, reflective tag from the leading housing association to attach to their rucksacks, book bags, coats or elsewhere.

This donation from Platform will enable pupils, whether walking alone, with friends or with parents, to shine brightly on their school commute in the darker months, meaning motorists are more aware of their presence.

This is the third donation from Platform to the primary school this year, following its supply of gardening equipment and an end-of-term ice cream van for all pupils and staff in the summer.

Christ Church C of E Primary School was purpose-built for the new community, where Platform is delivering a range of affordable homes in partnership with five-star housebuilder Miller Homes.

The housing association will continue to support local enterprises during and beyond the lifecycle of its Lockview development, where a selection of high-quality, affordable homes are currently available.

Lee Harrison, headteacher at Christ Church C of E Primary School, said: “This donation from Platform is a great example of businesses in the area acting in the best interests of our pupils.

“We are very grateful for Platform's continued support which will go a long way towards furthering the safety of our pupils to and from school.”

Debra Taylor, Sales Consultant at Platform, said: “Exercise is such an important factor in childhood, and this donation, while its primary aim is to keep pupils safer, can also contribute towards more children walking to and from school, which can only be a good thing.

“At Platform, we're always looking out for our communities and make it a mission to do right by them, so to be supporting Christ Church C of E once more is our honour.”

The homes at Lockview have been designed and built with modern living in mind, with space, versatility and contemporary fittings and fixings all playing a key part.

A variety of two- and three-bedroom homes are available through Shared Ownership, where buyers pay for a share of their home's value and pay rent on the remaining amount.

Lockview is part of Middlebeck, a new settlement which has attracted a number of new residents due to the appeal of its location, with Platform proud to be contributing an abundance of new homes towards the ever-growing community.
