Experienced Management Team Appointed to Lead Exeter's Newest Retirement Community

Adlington Retirement Living

A new on-site management team has been appointed at Radford House, the latest retirement community from Adlington Retirement Living on Weirfield Road in Exeter.

The exclusive community offers 65 one, two and three-bedroom age-exclusive apartments, alongside a wide range of communal facilities including a homeowners' lounge, coffee lounge, on-site restaurant, hair salon, therapy room and activities studio.

Leading the new team is General Manager Kay Suckley, who brings 12 years of experience in retirement living following a career in the legal sector. Kay previously managed a retirement village in Plymouth for almost eight years and is now focused on shaping a warm, supportive community at Radford House.

Kay said: “I'm really looking forward to building a new community here. I've done it once before and seeing people move in, form friendships and transform their lives was wonderful. Watching people blossom when they make a new friend or go out for coffee together is fantastic.”

Kay's hand-picked team includes six duty managers with a wide range of professional backgrounds from a former five-star hotel concierge and therapist to a mortgage and equity-release advisor who previously ran her own businesses to a born-and-bred Exonian with extensive experience in people-facing roles and a younger team member who brings strong hospitality experience and an impressive level of confidence and capability.

The wider team includes a maintenance technician who worked on the original construction of the building, offering detailed knowledge of every part of Radford House, and an experienced housekeeper who joins from an exclusive local hotel.

Phil Holyoak, National Sales Manager for Adlington Retirement Living, said: “Moving to an Adlington Retirement Living apartment is far more than just moving into a new home. It's a chance to become part of a thriving community and to enjoy having a supportive network around you. Our communities provide a safe, secure and happy environment with a circle of friends, a family of like-minded people and a sense of belonging.”

Research from ARCO, the independent body that sets standards for the retirement community sector, shows that moving to a retirement community can lead to a 24% decrease in anxiety symptoms, highlighting the positive effect of having a strong support network in place.

At Radford House, the on-site team is available around the clock to help with day-to-day queries, provide reassurance, and arrange optional tailored personal care packages whenever they are needed - now or in the future. Homeowners also benefit from a sophisticated emergency call system and a secure video entry system.

Homeowners at other Adlington Retirement Living communities have shared similar experiences.

Margaret, a homeowner who moved last year, said: “I feel I've got the best of both worlds. I can carry on with all my clubs, pétanque, U3A, visiting my family. But when I come back here, I've got security, a new group of friends and no worries about the garden or the house. There's a real sense of community. I've got more of a social life now than I had before, and I feel supported, safe and happy.”

Prospective homeowners can take full tours at Radford House Monday to Saturday between 10am and 5pm. To book a private tour, call 01392 341515 or visit adlington.co.uk/EP.
