An increasing number of homeowners are seeking a quick sale to avoid financial pressure, new figures suggest.
Cash home-buying company Quick Move Now has released data showing the reasons people cite when choosing a quick cash sale with the company.
Quick Move Now says the number of homeowners who want a quick sale because they're moving in with family has increased by 250% compared to 2024 figures. Meanwhile, the number of homeowners selling quickly to avoid repossession has increased by 200%. The number of sellers choosing a quick sale because they're downsizing or facing financial difficulty has also increased by 50% and 60% respectively.
The largest decline in reasons for a quick sale has been 'divorce or relationship breakdown', which is down 67% on last year's figures.

Commenting on the figures, Quick Move Now's managing director, Danny Luke, said: “Each year, we're contacted by thousands of homeowners looking for a quick and guaranteed sale. The reasons people choose to explore this option, rather than selling on the open market via an estate agent, tell a story.
“Comparing our 2024 and 2025 figures, it's clear to see the financial pressure that a growing number of homeowners are under. We've seen significant growth in the number of people choosing a quick sale because they're looking to avoid repossession, are moving in with family, facing financial difficulty, or choosing to downsize.
“Conversely, we've seen a decline in the number of homeowners choosing a quick cash sale as a result of divorce or relationship breakdown. Could this be due to the well-documented trend of couples choosing to stay together – or at least living together – because they can't afford to move out?
“The other notable trend we've seen over the last year is a 77% increase in the number of people using our service to sell inherited properties. The property market has been cumbersome and inconsistent in many areas of the UK this year. When people inherit a property that is not local to them, sitting on the market for months on end is not an appealing prospect. Although, as a business, we have to buy properties at a discount, our ability to provide a quick and guaranteed sale feels like a genuinely better option to some.”
