Tiffin Choir Fills Historic County Hall Kingston With Carols and Christmas Cheer

London Square

A festive evening of music and heritage was enjoyed at County Hall Kingston by London Square on Tuesday 16 December, as the acclaimed Tiffin Choir performed a special Christmas concert in the building's magnificent Grand Hall. With all 150 free tickets snapped up within hours of release, the concert was highly anticipated and played to a full and enthusiastic audience.

The former Surrey County Council headquarters on Penrhyn Road provided a striking backdrop for the concert, offering guests a rare opportunity to experience the landmark building as it is carefully restored by London Square to create an exclusive collection of new homes. The grandeur of the hall enhanced the choir's performance, which included highlights from Benjamin Britten's A Ceremony of Carols, alongside favourites such as In the Bleak Mid-Winter, Candlelight Carol and O Come, All Ye Faithful, with harp accompaniment by Esther Beyer under the direction of Glen Dempsey.

Founded in 1957, the Tiffin Choir is internationally renowned, with an exceptional performance history spanning the BBC Proms, Royal Opera House and major orchestras, as well as acclaimed blockbuster Hollywood film soundtrack recordings and broadcasts.

Tom Hall, Regional Sales Manager for London Square said: “It was a privilege to welcome the local community into County Hall Kingston for such a special evening with the Tiffin Choir. Events like this bring the building's rich history to life while giving people the chance to experience its future as a unique place to live.”

Andrew Dean, Director of Engagement at Tiffin School added: “Performing in such a beautiful and historic setting was a wonderful experience for our choristers. Sharing this concert with parents, staff and the wider community made the evening particularly special.”

London Square is currently selling a wide variety of new homes in Kingston, including one, two and three bedroom apartments and duplexes at County Hall Kingston and one, two and three bedroom homes apartments through shared ownership at Square Roots Kingston. The concert brought together members of the school community alongside prospective buyers, celebrating music, architecture and the future of one of Kingston's most important historic buildings.
