Children who would otherwise not have received a Christmas gift will receive something special this year thanks to a festive donation from Platform Home Ownership.
The leading housing association donated over £350's worth of presents to the Newark Salvation Army, which continues to support hundreds of local families through its annual Christmas Present Appeal.
This is the third successive year Platform has supported the Salvation Army through a donation of gifts, and the second time the Newark Salvation Army has been a recipient.
The charity helps to spread the joy of Christmas to families who are less fortunate, sharing over 68,000 gifts across the UK each year.
Platform is furthering its delivery of five-star Shared Ownership homes in Newark and nearby, accelerating the route to homeownership for those in the area for whom outright purchase is unviable.
Captain Sarah O'Grady at Newark Salvation Army, said: “We're always so grateful for the support we receive from businesses like Platform. They truly help us continue the work we do here in Newark, supporting families and individuals who need a helping hand.
“Platform has regularly supported local families through its donations to the Salvation Army, and it's lovely to know that businesses in our area care about the community just as much as we do.”
Debra Taylor, Sales Consultant at Platform, said: “Christmas is a great time of year, and a time of reflection too – we must always spare a thought for those less fortunate, and this donation goes a long way to supporting those who are.
“We're passionate about giving back to our communities, and we hope this donation spreads not only Christmas cheer, but also warmth and love.”
Platform has final Shared Ownership homes available at Fernwood Meadows, and launched the first Shared Ownership homes at Lockview in Middlebeck earlier this year.
Through Shared Ownership, buyers purchase a share of their home meaning a smaller deposit is required, and pay rent on the remainder. Thereafter, that share can be increased, all the way up to 100 per cent at a pace that suits the homeowner.
Early next year, first homes at Hawton Grove will be available, on the site of the former Flowserve factory.
