Design-Led Development to Deliver High-Quality Homes and Green Space in Rearsby

Allison Homes

A new community is coming to life near the village of Rearsby in Leicestershire, offering historic charm and a picturesque, rural backdrop.

Hot on the heels of planning permission, which was granted in December, Allison Homes has kicked off 2026 by commencing construction of Auster Meadows, the fourth site secured by its newest team operating across the East Midlands.

The team, led by East Midlands Managing Director Karl Edwards, broke ground at the development on Gaddesby Lane, on the edge of the thriving village of Rearsby, this January.

The eight-acre development will offer 65 energy efficient homes, including 47 two, three, four and five bedroom homes available through open market sale, and 18 one, two and three bedroom affordable homes.

From the iconic Seven Arch Bridge to the calming brook that meanders through its centre, life in Rearsby is an escape from the hustle and bustle, while still being brilliantly well-connected. Leicester and Melton Mowbray are accessed in under 20 minutes via road, with the nearby Syston Station providing easy links to Nottingham, Lincoln and London.

Amy Gormley, Head of Sales at Allison Homes East Midlands, said: “We are so excited to have started work on a stunning new development and our fourth project in the region. Auster Meadows offers a rare opportunity to join one of Leicestershire's most sought-after Wreake Valley villages, balancing rural tranquillity with modern convenience. It is a nature-lovers' dream with endless walks to enjoy, including the 100-mile Leicestershire Round, alongside plenty of boutique farm shops and cafes to stop at.

“As part of our work in this beautiful location, we are deeply committed to supporting existing residents in the surrounding areas. Last year, our team had the privilege of supporting St Michael and All Angels C of E Primary School in Rearsby after it suffered major flood damage in January 2025, leaving pupils unable to attend for six months. During the summer, eight volunteers took part in a tidy up of the school garden and a transformation of the library, with hundreds of new books donated.

“We have planned contributions worth more than £200,000 towards improving local healthcare, education services, libraries, outdoor sports facilities, allotments and public transport services. We want to ensure that this community continues to thrive and offer a truly special place to call home.”

Detailed research has been undertaken to ensure the house designs are based on the needs and aspirations of future homeowners, as well as aiming for an authentic appearance to complement the village's history.

This includes traditional rooflines, feature chimneys and ornate brickwork, usually found on older, traditional cottages. The majority of homes will be two and three bedroom properties to cater for first-time buyers, families and downsizers alike, with a selection of homes built to be accessible and adaptable for those with mobility needs.

Auster Meadows follows swiftly on from the recent success of nearby schemes, including St Mary's Chase in Stanton under Bardon, where the show home was launched in November.

Construction commenced in January, with sales going live in summer. To find out more about Auster Meadows, visit https://allison-homes.co.uk/development/auster-meadows/.
