West Yorkshire Developer Makes Egg-Stra Special Donation to Childrens' Cancer Charity

Barratt and David Wilson Homes

Leading homebuilder Barratt and David Wilson Homes has donated a selection of Easter eggs to Yorkshire based charity, Candlelighters, which supports families affected by childhood cancer.

Originally founded by families who experienced childhood cancer themselves, Candlelighters offers emotional, practical, and financial help through vital services such as counselling, financial grants, accommodation near hospitals, and peer support programmes that help families navigate childhood cancer.

Staff at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West donated over 100 of the Easter treats, spreading joy to many children across the region. Ahead of Easter, members of the developer's commercial team called in at Candlelighters' Leeds office to drop off the donated eggs.

Natalie Kisby, Head of Family Support at Candlelighters, said: “We want to say a massive thank you to Barratt and David Wilson Homes. They've been a fantastic supporter of Candlelighters for over eight years. From fundraising to helping at Christmas and delivering Easter treats this year, they've helped to make life a little easier for children with cancer and their families. We couldn't do what we do without the support of businesses like Barratt and David Wilson Homes, so we're incredibly grateful for everything they do.”

This donation is another part of Barratt and David Wilson Homes' continued outreach in the communities in West Yorkshire. The housebuilder has previously supported Candlelighters with a range of initiatives including volunteering over the Christmas period to wrap presents.

Gavin Birch, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West, said: “It was a pleasure to be able to donate the Easter eggs to Candlelighters. As well as building new homes for the community, we are committed to supporting the areas in which we build.

“Candlelighters is a wonderful charity that we have proudly worked with many times, and it is our wish that this donation of Easter eggs goes some way in putting a smile on the faces of children across the county. I would like to thank everyone who took part in our Easter collection.”
