Wembley Park was once more graced with the presence of footballing legend Sir Geoffrey Hurst MBE earlier this year. Sir Geoff visited the north west London site to see for himself just how much it had changed since he became the first striker to score a hat-trick in a Work Cup final back in 1966.
Fifty years on, his impressive feat has still never been equalled. Nor has England managed to recreate a winning team to rival that of Sir Geoff and his fellow footballers, who romped to victory over West Germany in what is possibly the most well-known football match in English history.
Marvelling at how much the area has changed in the past fifty years, Sir Geoff commented,
“Wembley Stadium is the heart of football. First opened to the public in 1923, the new stadium is now surrounded by the regeneration of Wembley Park, creating a sense of pride and place for all residents. Obviously it holds a special place in my heart because of our achievements in winning the World Cup for England in 1966. I still attend almost all England home games and with the whole area now being re-developed by Quintain, it will be even more special to a new generation of fans and local residents.”
Sir Geoff was accompanied by Councillor Muhammed Butt, Leader of Brent Council and a passionate advocate of strengthening relations within Brent's community, with a focus on local job creation and affordable housing, something which the vast array of new facilities at Wembley Park, the ongoing construction work and the neighbourhood vibe of the area are certainly helping to achieve.
Speaking of the work going into regenerating this part of Brent, Councillor Butt observed,
“Wembley is our main focus for growth and is a hugely dynamic and exciting place to live, work and visit. Building on its fantastic heritage, we want to maintain its unrivalled leisure offer, see more much needed new homes of all tenure built, and new jobs created for local people. We are committed to working with Quintain to deliver the regeneration of Wembley Park and to provide a high quality visitor experience for residents of Brent and London more widely.”
The duo were also joined by Carolyn Downs, Chief Executive of the London Borough of Brent and by senior members of the Quintain team, who were delighted to talk their honoured guests through the work that has been undertaken in creating the newly fashionable Wembley Park district, as well as future plans for the area.
The stylish new homes to rent at Tipi or to buy at Alto Apartments are opening up the area to a whole new generation of sports enthusiasts looking for the perfect location to call home from which to access the SSE Arena, Wembley and Wembley Stadium. For those who would prefer to watch the action from home, each and every apartment at Wembley Park will be linked to ultra-fast 1Gb/s broadband. The area's sporting prowess is part of its sought-after lifestyle, with residents also enjoying top facilities, from on-site gyms to extensive gardens and a 24-hour concierge service.
Paul Hogarth, Head of Residential Sales at Quintain, comments,
“Each phase of the Wembley Park development includes distinctive features, ensuring that the perfect apartment is available for every resident. From workers wanting quick access to central London (which is just 12 minutes away by Tube), to families with young children looking for great local schools, to singletons wanting great shopping, socialising and entertainment options, Wembley Park is providing the best of London living in a unique parkland setting. Of course it's also the spiritual home of football – sports fans couldn't ask for a better location!”
