The country house building contractor, R.W. Armstrong & Sons, has opened a second office in Haslemere, Surrey, due to the increasing demand for their services beyond their Hampshire base. This has enabled the company to offer clients and architects in Surrey and West Sussex a local and economic solution to their building needs.

Last year Armstrong's also acquired an additional joinery workshop near Farnham, Surrey to expand their joinery services, in particular bespoke period panelling and built-in furniture.

R.W. Armstrong's has found that conditions remain buoyant at the top end of the country house market. Any general downturn in the economic climate has not stopped people buying and renovating large houses. House price inflation in this market has been so extreme, that construction costs have become a much smaller percentage of overall costs. This, coupled by a huge increase in personal wealth and foreign investors, at this end if the market, has made procuring work easier in the last 12 months.

For half a century, R.W. Armstrong & Sons has established an enviable reputation as a traditional building company of the highest standard, specialising in the renovation, extension, or indeed new build, of prestigious period and country homes.

This has been achieved by the commitment of a team comprising over 170 experienced management staff and craftsmen, working in close liaison with clients and some of the best architects and interior designers in their field.

Together with the careful selection of prestige projects requiring a variety of services, this has resulted in turnover trebling in the last five years.

Typically the value of the projects Armstrong's undertake range from £250k to £5m. Projects are primarily located in Hampshire, Surrey, West Sussex, Berkshire, Wiltshire and South West London. The team at Haslemere is already working on six large contracts in Surrey and West Sussex.
