Construction specialist thriving through public sector success
A dedicated move into public sector contracts has paid dividends for a South Yorkshire based national construction specialist.
Horbury Group has concluded contracts worth almost £25m on new hospitals, schools and other public sector developments in the UK, demonstrating a shrewd move away from residential contracts.
The group's Titan Ceilings subsidiary has accounted for £9m of contracts on projects including the £119 Manchester Civil Justice Centre and the £560m University Hospital Birmingham (UHB), MWS Joinery has completed more than £4m of contracts including work on UHB and Sheffield's £19m J1 & J2 Riverside, taken by the Home Office.
In addition to this, the group's Horbury Building Systems has completed more than £10m of contracts including work on the £50m Thomas Deacon Academy in Peterborough and the £65m Castle Hill Cancer Centre in Hull.
Trevor Wragg, managing director of the Horbury Group, said: “Horbury's move towards public sector has been consistent with the group's business plan, which is based upon providing the very best service to our clients and clearly counts for both private and public sector projects.
“The group's success in this field means that we will continue to pursue increasingly complex contracts as the government maintains its programme to build more schools and hospitals.”
Horbury Group recently announced the appointment of four new staff across its sales and estimates division, and a move into a landmark new £5.5m headquarters in Moorgate, Rotherham.
The company has also announced the launch of its ninth subsidiary, Croft Electrical Engineering Ltd, which provides a wide range of services including planned maintenance, facilities management, fire alarm systems, security systems, data systems, power and lighting and access control.
