Raine & Horne Mossman/Port Douglas is the winner of the hotly contested 2010 NAB Property Management Team of the Year award, at the Raine & Horne Queensland Chairman's Awards, held at the Royal on the Park, Brisbane on Saturday, 19 March 2011.

The leading local firm also landed three additional gongs, with co-principals David Cotton and Travis Schumacher grabbing prestigious Chairman's Awards for sales, while Barbara King won a Chairman's Award for property management.

Mr Cotton attributes the award winning ways of Raine & Horne Mossman/Port Douglas to hard work and a commitment to the auction process in a challenging market.

As for Mossman's real estate prospects for 2011, Mr Cotton is particularly bullish. "The market bottomed at the end of 2010 and investors from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane can see the value, along with healthy yields that are well in excess of 5%.

"We sold three houses for less than $250,000 at Wonga Beach, north of Mossman, which are generating weekly returns of $280 to $320."

The Mossman rental market, according to Mr Cotton, is underpinned by the local tourism and agriculture employment markets as well as the Mossman Mill.

"We also have plenty of itinerant mining workers who work offshore and base themselves in Mossman and Port Douglas where the climate is second to none," says Mr Cotton.
