Leading Kent developer, Simon Wright Homes, has launched a new civil engineering arm, SJW Civil Engineering Ltd, as part of a strategy to bring civil engineering in-house, and has appointed David Speight as Managing Director.
David has worked in the civil engineering industry for 23 years, almost exclusively on the contracting side for well-known firms including Hanson and Ovenden, and has been involved with major projects including Damhead Creek Power Station and the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL).
Simon Wright, Chief Executive of Simon Wright Homes, comments: “As we buy and build larger and more complex sites, we have an increasing need for civil engineering expertise, and believe that it is more efficient to bring this service in-house. It also means that we can sub-contract out a civil engineering service, providing an additional dynamic to our business. David has extensive experience and knowledge of what works, so I am confident that his contribution will prove invaluable.”
David will head up a team of quantity surveyors, contract managers and site managers and is responsible for the delivery of all civil engineering aspects for Simon Wright Homes, together with tendering and delivery of civil engineering contracts for external clients.
David adds: “I am looking forward to working with Simon Wright Homes due to the diversity of the schemes and the challenge that developing a new arm to the business will bring.”
Simon Wright Homes is currently marketing several new schemes in Kent. For further information, please telephone 0870 386 1961 or visit the website: www.simonwrighthomes.co.uk
