According to the latest figures, renters looking for a two bedroom home in the E14 postcode of East London could pay as much as £2,145 per month, more than £600 higher than the wider London average[1]. Understandably, the superb travel connections, local amenities and proximity to Canary Wharf and The City make this East End district incredibly popular with 'generation rent', but with such inflated costs, many tenants have to look elsewhere.
Developer Genesis is offering an alternative solution to London's renters at Jessop at New Providence Wharf, E14, where a range of brand new two bedroom apartments are available to buy with Shared Ownership. The part-own, part-rent scheme allows buyers to get on the property ladder with a smaller deposit, and with average monthly payments of around £1,630 – around £500 cheaper than renting in the area – it's an affordable home ownership solution.
Through Shared Ownership, buyers can purchase between 25% and 75% of the property, paying subsidised rent on the remainder. Residents can then increase their share at any time, all the way up to 100% and outright ownership. Prices at Jessop start from £121,250 based on a 25% share of the full market value of £485,000.
The remaining two bedroom apartments at Jessop are contemporary in design, boasting spacious, open plan living and a quality specification. The living / dining / kitchen area is filled with light thanks to full height glazing, and the bedrooms are light and airy. The kitchen is fully-fitted with granite worktops and integrated Bosch appliances including a dishwasher and washing machine, while bathrooms are tiled, finished with modern white sanitaryware and chrome fixtures and fittings.
Ideal for city professionals, Jessop at New Providence Wharf is ideally placed within walking distance from Canary Wharf and just a few stops on the Docklands Light Railway from Bank and Canning Town. From both Canary Wharf and Canning Town, connections with the Jubilee line offer travel across London, with Crossrail coming to the area from 2018.
Away from work, residents are well located for a social and leisure pursuits, as New Providence Wharf is becoming a destination in its own right, thanks to a bustling array of eateries and bars, hotels and leisure facilities. Meanwhile Canary Wharf's three shopping centres offering high end and high street brands, and a range of bars and restaurants within walking distance from home. Less than 10 minutes away by public transport is Westfield Stratford City, boasting over 500 shops, a casino, bars and restaurants. Across the river, the O2 Arena boasts one of the largest live venues, home to various sports and entertainment shows, as well as a choice of bars and restaurants, cinema and the famous Indigo2 nightclub.
